Process for the preparation of a substantive azo dye. It has been found that a valuable substantive azo dye is obtained if one uses a diazo compound of the aminomonoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0005
with 2-benzoylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid. and the disazo dye thus obtained is treated with copper-releasing agents in such a way that the o, o'-dioxyazo copper complex is formed with splitting of the -0 - allyl group.
The new dye forms a dark powder that dissolves in water with a gray-green color and dyes cotton in green-gray tones.
The amino monoazo dye of the above formula is conveniently obtained by coupling dianotated 4-amino-4'-chlorostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid with 1-amino-2,5-dimethoxyben- zene in an acidic to neutral medium. The coupling of the Diazoazov connection with the 2-benzoylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulfonic acid is advantageously carried out in an alkaline medium, and it is advisable to use an agent promoting the coupling, e.g. B. pyridine, zuzu put.
Copper-tetrammine complexes are preferably used as copper-releasing agents, and the coppering is expediently carried out for several hours in the vicinity of 1 in an aqueous medium. It is also advantageous to work in the presence of oxyalkylamines, in particular ethanolamm, or the copper complexes derived from these amines.
Example: 38.9 parts of 4-amino-4'-chlorostilbene-2,2'-disulphonic acid are dissolved in 150 parts of water, 25 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid are added and 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 50 parts of water dianotiert. A hydrochloric acid solution of 15.3 parts of 1-amino-2,5-dimethoxybenzene is added to the diazo compound. The monoazo dye is formed by adding sodium acetate until a Congo-neutral reaction and stirring overnight.
The deposited dye is filtered off.
The moist dye cake is dissolved in 1000 parts of water with the addition of sodium hydroxide, 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite in 50 parts of water are added and 40 parts of 30% hydrochloric acid are collapsed at 5 to 10 with thorough stirring. Dianotation is over in 2 to 3 hours.
The diazo compound is then added to a solution of 35 parts of 2-benzoylamino-5-oxynaphthalene-7-sulphonic acid, 200 parts of water and 40 parts of sodium carbonate and stirred for 10 to 12 hours.
After the coupling has ended, the disazo dye is salted out, filtered and two-way transfer to the copper complex for 5 hours with 25 parts of crystalline. Copper sulfate, 50 parts of 25% ammonia and 20 parts of ethanolamine in 2000 parts of water on the Rüekfluss gekoeht. The dye deposited with sodium chloride is filtered and dried.
