Um composto de bis-triflimida metálica tendo a fórmula: [M~ x~)^ n+^ [(N(SO~ 2~CF~ 3~)~ 2~) ~(n-yz)~] ^ (nx-yz)-^ [L~ y~]^ z-^, na qual M é um metal selecionado dos metais dos Grupos 5 a 10, 12 e 14 a 16 da Tabela Periódica e Cu, Au, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Y, La, Ac, Hf, Rf, Ga, In, T1, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu e os actinídeos; L é um ligante negativo ou neutro; n é 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ou 8; x é igual ou superior a 1; y é 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ou 8; e z é 0, 1, 2, 3 ou 4.
