The present invention relates to new azo dyes insoluble in water and corresponding to the appended general formula 1, in which X represents an alkyl or alkoxylic group, Y a hydrogen or halogen atom and R a radical aromatic or heterocyclic.
We know, 'from French patent No. 768,098 dated February 2
1934 in the name of IG FARBENINDUSTRIE AoGo, the preparation of disazoic dyes insoluble in water, which consists in copulating, in substance or on a support, diazotized substitutes of 2-AMINO-1.1'-azobenzene with arylamides of hydroxy-aryl-carboxylic acids, esters or arylamides of ss-keto-carboxylic acids or with pyrazoloneso derivatives. Dyes are thus obtained which generally give the fibers brown dyes endowed with good properties of solidity.
Now, the Applicant has found that it is possible to produce precious azo dyes, insoluble in water, by coupling in substance, on the fiber or on another support, the disazos of ortho-amino-azo compounds corresponding to the @ General formula 2 appended hereto, in which X represents an alkyl or alkoxylic group, with arylamides of the acid
2.3-hydroxynaphthoic bearing no hydro-solubilizing group.
With the known dyeing processes, these new dyes give on vegetable fibers, including regenerated cellulose fibers, dyes of which the shade goes from green to brown with a hint of green, endowed with good fastness properties and which it was heretofore impossible to obtain, in the series of ice colors, with suitable diazo components
These dyes can also be prepared without a support or on another support and used to color plastic masses of high molecular weight or for the manufacture of colored varnishes.
They can be produced according to the known and usual methods for this class of dyes, without any new or additional operation.
Organically, they rather fall into the category of ice cream colors, which they enrich and enhance in a precious way. Azo ortho-amino compounds used as diazo components can be obtained by known methods. It is advantageous to use for the manufacture of the new dyes, solid and stable diazonium compounds prepared as described in the French patent application filed on May 9, 1957, in the name of the applicant for: "Azo dyes and their preparation ' , '
The following examples illustrate the present invention without limiting it in any way.
EXAMPLE 1.
In a stomping bath (primer bath) prepared as described below, cotton threads are treated for 45 minutes at 35 minutes, with a bath length of 1:20, then centrifuged and dyed at 15 in. the development bath.
The material is rinsed in a bath containing 3 cm of hydrochloric aid at 20 Bé per liter of water, soaped, first for 5 minutes at 60 then for 15 minutes at 95, in a bath containing, per liter of water, 1 g of a product obtained by reacting about 10 molecules of ethylene oxide with 1 molecule of isodecylphenol and 3 g of sodium carbonate, rinsing and drying.
Foot bath:
We dissolve
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
1.5 g of 1- (2'03 '-hydroxy-naphthoylamino) -2-ethoxy-benzene in 1.5 cm3 of denatured alcohol 0.75 cm of caustic soda lye at 38 Bé,
3 cm3 of a 33% formaldehyde solution and
3cm3 of water and we bring to 1 liter with water at 35,
3 g of a condensation product obtained from high molecular weight fatty acids and degradation products of proteins and
10 cm3 of caustic soda lye at 38 Bé.
Development bath
We dissolve:
EMI2.1
1 5 g of -2-.no-4.5-diethoxy2 -methylsulfonyl- ° lnitro-1 .1 '- azoberizene, in the form of a diazonium compound prepared in the usual manner, in 1 liter of water containing
1 g of a product obtained by reacting about 10 molecules of ethylene oxide with 1 molecule of octadecyl alcohol and 5 cm3 of 50% acetic acid.
A covered shade is obtained, green with a hint of yellow, having good solidity properties.
This dyeing process can also be applied to other fibers, such as viscose rayon or fibrane.
EXAMPLE 20
A cotton cloth is placed on a scarf with a solution prepared as follows:
A paste is made with 12 g of 2.3-hydroxy-naphthoylamino-benzene, 20 g of glossy monopoly oil and 18 cm3 of 38 Bé caustic soda lye and it is brought to 1 liter with boiling water.
The fabric is dried, then developed on the scarf, preferably on the Fibe Scarf, with a solution containing, per liter of water:
8.9 g of 2-amino-4-methoxy-5-methyl-2 '-methylsulfonyl-4'-nitro-
1,1 '-azobenzene in the form of a diazonium compound prepared in the usual manner,
1 g of product obtained by reacting about 20 molecules of ethylene oxide on 1 molecule of octadecyl alcohol and 20 cm3 of 50% acetic acid.
