Abstract
Un método para preparar una planta transgénica monocotiledonea distinta de coix que exprese un gen seleccionado que comprende los parsos de: (a)proveer ungen seleccionado; (b)preparar una construccion que contenga dicho gen ligado operativamente aun promotor Coix; (c)transformar una célula receptora de unaplanta monocotiledonea distinta de Coix con dicha construccion; y (d)regenerar una planta transgénica monocotiledonea que exprese dicho gen de dicha célulareceptora. La planta transgénicamono cotiledonea es una planta seleccionada del grupo formado por arroz, trigo, cebada, centeno, sorgo, y maíz y el gen puedeser potencialmente cualquier gen que se quiera expresar en plantas transgénicas. Se provee también un método para criarplantas qu e comprende los pasos de:(a)obtener una planta progenie de cualquier generacion de una planta transgenica monocotiledonea preparada de acuerdo con los métodos descriptos anteriormente,donde la planta progenie comprende dicha construccion;y (b)cruzar la planta consigo misma o con una segunda planta. Con este metodo, se evita elsilenciamiento de genes mediante el uso de secuencias homologas de plantas monocotiledoneas del género Coix para la transformacion. En estas secuenciasdetransgenes se inc luyen promotores, potenciales, secuencias de codificacion y terminadores de Coix. Es conveniente contar con alternativas de transgenesderivados de maíz para su expresion en maíz por cuanto el silenciamiento de genes basado enhomologías puede limita r o eliminar de forma efectiva la expresiontransgénica.
