Definitions
- the present invention relates to a resin composition which has both high crystallinity and excellent flexibility and is excellent in processability, and a method for producing the same.
- Vinyl alcohol-based resins utilize an excellent film property (mechanical strength, oil resistance, film-forming property, oxygen gas barrier property, etc.) or hydrophilicity resulting from high crystallinity to be an emulsifier, a suspending agent, a surfactant It is widely used in textile processing agents, various binders, paper processing agents, adhesives, various packages, sheets, containers and the like.
- vinyl alcohol resins usually have a glass transition temperature higher than room temperature and are highly crystallized, so they have a low flexibility, are weak in flex resistance, and have low reactivity, which is a major issue depending on the application. It has physical defects. Although the low flexibility can be solved by compounding a plasticizer, in such a case, it is inevitable to lower mechanical properties and barrier properties due to a significant decrease in plasticizer bleed out or crystallinity.

- the dose for irradiating the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) with active energy rays is preferably 5 to 200 kGy, more preferably 10 to 150 kGy, still more preferably 20 to 100 kGy, and particularly preferably 30 to 90 kGy.
- the dose to be irradiated is 5 kGy or more, it becomes easy to introduce a sufficient amount of side chains.
- the dose to be irradiated is 200 kGy or less, the cost is likely to be advantageous, and the deterioration of the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) due to the irradiation of the active energy ray can be easily suppressed.
- the shape of the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) is not particularly limited, but is preferably in the form of powder or pellet having an average particle diameter of 50 to 4000 ⁇ m. Since the contact efficiency with the monomer which is a raw material of synthetic rubber or the solution containing the said monomer rises by setting it in the said shape, a high reaction rate is easy to be obtained. When the average particle size is 50 ⁇ m or more, scattering of the powder tends to be suppressed, and when the average particle size is 4000 ⁇ m or less, the reaction rate tends to be high.
- the average particle size is more preferably 60 to 3500 ⁇ m, and still more preferably 80 to 3000 ⁇ m. Examples of the method of measuring the average particle diameter include a measuring method using a laser diffraction apparatus “LA-950V2” manufactured by HORIBA, Ltd. as described in Examples described later.
- the dispersion solvent to be used must be one that dissolves the monomer that is the raw material of the diene polymer (B-2) but does not dissolve the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with active energy rays. There is.
- a solvent for dissolving the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with active energy rays is used, the progress of the graft polymerization and the deactivation of the radical generated in the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) are simultaneously performed.
- the dispersion solvent used for the graft polymerization examples include water; lower alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and isopropanol; ethers such as tetrahydrofuran, dioxane and diethyl ether; ketones such as acetone and methyl ethyl ketone; and amides such as dimethylformamide and dimethylacetamide Toluene, hexane and the like can be mentioned.
- water in order to disperse
- these solvents may be used in combination of two or more.
- the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with active energy rays swells, whereby the monomer which is a raw material of the diene polymer (B-2) is the vinyl alcohol. It can penetrate to the inside of the base polymer (B-1) and introduce a large amount of side chains composed of the diene polymer (B-2) region. Therefore, the dispersion solvent to be used is preferably selected in consideration of the affinity to the vinyl alcohol polymer irradiated with the active energy ray.
- lower alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and isopropanol are preferably used in the production method of the present invention because they have high affinity with the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with active energy rays. Used. It is also effective to use a mixture of the above-mentioned dispersion solvents as a liquid medium within the range in which the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with active energy rays is not dissolved, for the same reason as described above.
- the affinity between the liquid medium and the vinyl alcohol polymer is excessively high, the resin after the reaction swells significantly, and isolation by filtration becomes difficult, and the raw material of the diene polymer (B-2) Certain monomers are likely to be homopolymerized. Therefore, it is preferable to appropriately select the dispersion solvent in consideration of the affinity to the vinyl alcohol polymer to be used and the swelling property at the reaction temperature described later.
- the amount of the monomer used as the raw material of the diene polymer (B-2) in graft polymerization is appropriately adjusted in accordance with the reactivity of the monomer. As described above, the reactivity changes depending on the penetrability of the monomer to the vinyl alcohol polymer and the like. Therefore, the appropriate amount of the above-mentioned monomer varies depending on the type or amount of the dispersion solvent, the degree of polymerization or the degree of saponification of the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1), etc. The amount is preferably 1 to 1000 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the irradiated vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1).
- the amount of the above-mentioned monomer used is more preferably 2 to 900 parts by mass, further preferably 5 to 800 parts by mass.
- the amount of the liquid medium used in the graft polymerization is preferably 100 to 4000 parts by mass, more preferably 200 to 2000 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) irradiated with the active energy ray. And 300 to 1500 parts by mass are more preferable.
- the reaction temperature in the graft polymerization is preferably 20 ° C. to 150 ° C., more preferably 30 ° C. to 120 ° C., and still more preferably 40 ° C. to 100 ° C.
- the reaction temperature is 20 ° C. or more, the graft polymerization reaction easily proceeds.
- the reaction temperature is 150 ° C. or less, thermal melting of the vinyl alcohol polymer (B-1) hardly occurs.
- the reaction can be performed under pressure in a pressure container such as an autoclave.
- the reaction time in the graft polymerization is preferably 10 hours or less, more preferably 8 hours or less, and still more preferably 6 hours or less. It is easy to suppress the homopolymerization of the monomer which is a raw material of a diene polymer (B-2) as the said reaction time is 10 hours or less.
- the resin composition of the present invention is a molded body (film, sheet, board, fiber, etc.), multilayer structure (inner liner of tire, etc.), additive (tire additive, etc.), compatibilizer, coating agent, barrier It can be used in a wide range of applications such as materials, sealing agents (metal sealants etc.), adhesives and the like.

X2={(原料のエチレン-ビニルアルコール共重合体(質量部))×(a2/100)}/28
Y2={(原料のエチレン-ビニルアルコール共重合体(質量部))×(b2/100)}/44
Z2={(反応後の樹脂組成物(質量部))-(原料のエチレン-ビニルアルコール共重合体(質量部))}/(グラフト重合する単量体の分子量)
