 図1は、本発明にかかるヘッドレストステーの実施形態の正面図および側面図である。図1に示すように、本実施形態に係るヘッドレスト1-1は、本体10と、ステー(ヘッドレストステー)20とを有する。本体10は、中空の被覆(カバー)11を有している。ステー20は、パイプ状あるいは中実の棒状部材で構成されている。ステー20は、略U字形状に形成されており、U字の両端部が下側に位置するように配置される。ステー20は、図示しない車両に設けられたシート30のシートバック31に支持された状態でシートバック31の上下方向(以下、単に「シートバック上下方向」と称する。)に延在し、車幅方向の異なる位置に平行に配置された一対の第一ステー構成部21,21と、各第一ステー構成部21においてシートバック上下方向に直線状に延在する部分(後述する所定部21a)を車幅方向に接続する第二ステー構成部22を有する。
 第一ステー構成部21は、シートバック上下方向の最も下側に設けられた固定部21cと、シートバック上下方向の最も上側に設けられた所定部21aと、固定部21cと所定部21aとを接続する接続部21bとを有する。固定部21cは、シートバック上下方向に伸びており、シートバック31に支持される。固定部21cは、係合溝21dを有しており、固定部21cがシートバック31に挿入された状態で、係合溝21dにシートバック31側に設けられた図示しない係合突起が係合することで、固定部21cの位置決めがなされる。
 所定部21aは、シートバック上下方向に直線状に延在している。本実施形態では、車幅方向の両側の所定部21a,21aは互いに平行に設けられている。所定部21a,21aは、シート30の着座者の頭部と前後方向に対向する。なお、所定部21a,21aが着座者の頭部と対向するとは、例えば、設計時に着座者の頭部と対向すると想定されていることであり、着座者の体格や姿勢等によっては、所定部21a,21aと着座者の頭部とが対向しない場合もある。一方の所定部21aと他方の所定部21aとの車幅方向の隙間Wは、着座者の頭部の車幅方向の幅よりも小さい。接続部21b,21bは、固定部21cから所定部21aへ向けて車幅方向の間隔が減少し、かつ前側へ向かうように傾斜している。
 第二ステー構成部22は、屈曲部23と直線部24とを有する。屈曲部23は、直線部24の両端にそれぞれ接続されており、直線部24に接続された側と反対側の端部が第一ステー構成部21の所定部21aに接続されている。屈曲部23は、所定部21aと接続された端部23aからシートバック上下方向の上側に向けて後ろ側に傾斜し、次いで車幅方向に屈曲して直線部24に接続されている。このように、第二ステー構成部22は、各第一ステー構成部21の所定部21aを車幅方向に接続している。
 ステー20のうち、第一ステー構成部21の所定部21aと接続部21bおよび第二ステー構成部22は、被覆(カバー)11内に配置されている。被覆11内には、発泡樹脂が充填され、本体10とステー20とが固定されている。所定部21aは、被覆11のうち、着座者の頭部を支持する支持部11aと前後方向に対向している。つまり、所定部21aは、第一ステー構成部21のうち被覆11内に位置し、シートバック上下方向に直線状に延在する部分であって、支持部11aを介して着座者の頭部を支持することができる。
 本実施形態のステー20では、上端部の第二ステー構成部22が、所定部21aに対して後ろ側に逃がされている。これにより、以下に説明するように、着座者の頭部の移動を抑えてしまうことが抑制される。まず、従来のヘッドレストについて、着座者の頭部の移動を抑えてしまうという課題について説明する。図7は、従来のステーを有するヘッドレストの一例を示す図である。
 図7において、符号100は、ヘッドレストを示す。ヘッドレスト100のステー120は、シートバック上下方向に延在し、車幅方向の異なる位置に配置された一対の第一ステー構成部121と、一対の第一ステー構成部121におけるシートバック上下方向に直線状に延在する所定部121aを車幅方向に接続する第二ステー構成部122とを有する。第二ステー構成部122の前後方向の位置は、所定部121aと同じ位置であり、側面視において、第二ステー構成部122は、所定部121aと重なっている(同じ線上にある)。
 車両が他車に後突された場合など、前方に向かう加速度が車両に作用した場合、着座者の頭部Hは、後ろ側に移動し、ヘッドレスト100の本体110に押し付けられる。また、シートには後ろ側に向かう慣性力が作用し、かつ、着座者がシートに沈み込むことで、シートバック131は斜め下方向(後ろ側)に倒れていく。これにより、着座者はシートバック131およびヘッドレスト100に対して相対的にシートバック上下方向の上側に移動しようとする。着座者の頭部Hは、本体110に押し付けられて所定部121aに支持されつつ、所定部121aに沿って上側に移動する。ここで、第二ステー構成部122が、一対の所定部121a,121aと同じ面上にあることで、符号Rで示すステー120の上端部の近傍において、着座者の頭部Hが本体110に引っかかってしまうこととなる。これにより、頭部Hにおいて本体110に引っかかった部分を回転の中心として、頭部Hが、矢印Y1に示すように、車幅方向の軸線周りに回転してしまう。符号H1は、回転前の頭部Hを示し、符号H2は、回転後の頭部Hを示している。このように、頭部Hが回転してしまうなど、着座者の頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動が抑えられることで、着座者に違和感を与える場合があった。
 これに対して、本実施形態のステー20では、第二ステー構成部22は、第一ステー構成部21における最も前方に位置する部分よりも前方に位置する部分を有さず、第二ステー構成部22のうち車幅方向における一方の所定部21aと他方の所定部21aとの間に位置する部分は、所定部21aよりも前方に位置せず、かつ少なくとも一部が所定部21aよりも後方に位置している。これにより、図2を参照して説明するように、着座者の頭部Hがシートバック上下方向に移動するときに、頭部Hの移動が抑えられてしまうことが抑制される。車両に前進方向の加速度が作用した場合に、着座者の頭部Hは、ヘッドレスト1-1に対して相対的にシートバック上下方向の上側に移動する。図2は、本実施形態のステーを備えたヘッドレストにおける着座者の頭部の移動の様子を示す図である。図2において、符号H3は移動前の頭部Hを示し、符号H4は移動後の頭部Hを示す。第二ステー構成部22のうち車幅方向における所定部21a,21aの間に位置する部分(直線部24を含む部分)は、少なくとも一部が所定部21aよりも後方(着座者側と反対側)に位置している。これにより、頭部Hが本体10(被覆11)に接しつつシートバック上下方向に移動するときに頭部Hが引っかかることが抑制される。
 特に、本実施形態では、第二ステー構成部22の直線部24は、所定部21aから着座者側と反対側に向けて傾斜する屈曲部23を介して所定部21aと接続されている。これにより、第二ステー構成部22において、車幅方向における一方の所定部21aと他方の所定部21aとの間に位置する部分の全てが、所定部21aよりも着座者側と反対側(後方)に位置している。これにより、着座者の頭部Hがシートバック上下方向に移動するときに引っ掛かりが生じることが効果的に抑制され、頭部Hがシートバック上下方向に円滑に移動できる。着座者の頭部Hが引っかかることが抑制されるため、以下に図3を参照して説明するように、頭部Hが車幅方向の軸線周りに回転してしまうことが抑制される。
 図3は、後突時の着座者の頭部Hの後傾角を示す図である。図3において、横軸は後方から衝突されてからの経過時間、縦軸は着座者の頭部Hが前後方向に傾くときの頭部Hの角度変化を示す。符号TH1は、本実施形態のヘッドレスト1-1を使用したときの頭部Hの角度変化を示し、符号TH2は、図7に示す従来のヘッドレスト100を使用したときの頭部Hの角度変化を示す。
 図3に示すように、本実施形態のヘッドレスト1-1を使用したときの頭部Hの角度変化TH1の大きさは、従来のヘッドレスト100を使用したときの頭部Hの角度変化TH2の大きさと比較して小さい。つまり、本実施形態のヘッドレスト1-1では、シートバック上下方向に移動するときに頭部Hが引っ掛かることが抑制されている。
 なお、本実施形態では、第二ステー構成部22において、車幅方向における一方の所定部21aと他方の所定部21aとの間に位置する部分の全てが、所定部21aよりも着座者側と反対側に位置していたが、これには限定されない。第二ステー構成部22において、車幅方向における一方の所定部21aと他方の所定部21aとの間に位置する部分の少なくとも一部が所定部21aよりも着座者側と反対側に位置していればよく、車幅方向における所定部21a,21aの間の中間部に位置する部分が所定部21aよりも着座者側と反対側に位置していることが好ましい。
 また、本実施形態では、第二ステー構成部22は、所定部21a,21aにおけるシートバック上下方向の上端部同士を接続しているが、これには限定されない。第二ステー構成部22は、所定部21a,21aの上端部とは異なる部分を接続するものであってもよい。
(第2実施形態)
 図4を参照して、第2実施形態について説明する。図4は、本実施形態に係るヘッドレストの動作の一例を示す図である。第2実施形態については、上記第1実施形態と異なる点についてのみ説明する。
 本実施形態のヘッドレスト1-2は、車両が衝突された場合等に本体と着座者の頭部Hとの間隔が低減する方向にステーを移動させるアクティブヘッドレストとして構成されている。ヘッドレスト1-2は、上記第1実施形態と同様のステー20および本体10を有すると共に、ステー20および本体10を着座者の頭部Hへ近づける方向に移動させるアクティブユニット(移動機構)40を有する。アクティブユニット40は、例えば、車両が衝突されて着座者がシートバック31に押し付けられることによる機械的な入力で作動し、ステー20および本体10を移動させる機構であることができる。なお、アクティブユニット40に機械的な入力を行うトリガ(作動機構)は、着座者の動きに連動して作動を開始するものには限定されない。
 例えば、トリガは、車両が衝突されることにより発生する衝撃や圧力、加速度等によりアクティブユニット40に機械的な入力を行うものであることができ、機械的に作動を開始するものでも制御により作動を開始するものでもよい。また、トリガは、自車両に接近する車両を検出する手段の検出結果等に基づき、自車両が衝突されると予測された場合にアクティブユニット40に機械的な入力を行うものであってもよい。
 トリガが作動していない場合には、本体10およびステー20は、可動範囲において着座者の頭部Hから遠ざかった位置(符号10-1参照)に停止している。トリガが作動すると、アクティブユニット40により、本体10がステー20と共に頭部Hへ近づく方向に移動する(矢印Y3参照)。符号10-2は、アクティブユニット40により頭部Hへ向けて移動した本体10を示す。このときの本体10およびステー20の移動方向は、例えば、前方およびシートバック上下方向の上方にそれぞれ向かう方向である。これにより、着座者の頭部Hと本体10との間隔が減少し、頭部Hの後方への移動量が減少する。なお、アクティブユニット40による本体10の移動方向は、これには限定されず、例えば、移動方向が前方のみであってもよい。
 また、ヘッドレスト1-2において、第二ステー構成部22は、上記第1実施形態のステー20と同様の構成であるため、着座者の頭部Hが本体10に接触した後に頭部Hがシートバック上下方向に移動する際に、上記第1実施形態と同様に頭部Hの移動を抑えることを抑制する効果を奏することができる。ヘッドレスト1-2がアクティブヘッドレストとして構成されていることで、後突時などに着座者の頭部Hが本体10に支持されている時間が長くなることがある。このため、頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動を抑えにくいステー20は、アクティブヘッドレストと組み合わせられることで、その効果をより有効に発揮することができる。なお、頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動を抑えにくくする観点からは、本体10の内部にエアバッグ等の構成要素を有していないことが好ましい。
 また、上記第1実施形態と同様に構成され、第二ステー構成部22の少なくとも一部が所定部21aよりも後方に位置するステー20は、アクティブユニット40が、ステー20を少なくとも前方に移動させ、かつ、アクティブユニット40がステー20におけるシートバック上下方向の上部を前方に移動させる移動量(図4の符号U1参照)が、下部を前方に移動させる移動量(図4の符号U2参照)と比較して大きい場合に、特に有効である。アクティブユニット40が、このようにステー20を移動させる(例えば、ステー20の上側が下側と比較して大きく前方に移動するように回動させる)場合、シートバック上下方向に移動する頭部Hが第二ステー構成部22に引っかかりやすくなる可能性がある。しかしながら、第二ステー構成部22が所定部21aに対して後方に逃がされたステー20では、アクティブユニット40によって前方に移動した状態においても、頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動を抑えることが抑制される。
(第3実施形態)
 第3実施形態について説明する。第3実施形態については、上記各実施形態と異なる点についてのみ説明する。
 本実施形態のヘッドレスト1-3のステー50は、上記各実施形態のステー20の構成に加えて、着座者の頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動を抑えてしまうことを抑制する構成を有している。図5は、本実施形態に係るヘッドレスト1-3の概略構成を示す図である。
 図5において、符号50はステー、51は第一ステー構成部、52は第二ステー構成部、53は屈曲部、54は直線部、51aは所定部、51bは接続部、51cは固定部をそれぞれ示す。ステー50では、上記各実施形態のステー20と同様に、第二ステー構成部52は、第一ステー構成部51における最も前方に位置する部分よりも前方に位置する部分を有さず、車幅方向における所定部51a,51aの間の部分は、所定部51aよりも前方に位置せず、かつ、少なくとも一部が所定部51aよりも後方に位置している。さらに、所定部51a,51aの間には板状部材55が設けられている。
 板状部材55は、金属あるいは樹脂等で構成されており、車幅方向に一方の所定部51aと他方の所定部51aとを接続している。板状部材55は、所定部51a,51aがなす平面と平行に配置されており、着座者の頭部Hを支持することができる。板状部材55が設けられていることで、着座者の頭部Hが後ろ側に移動して本体10に押し付けられたときに、頭部Hが板状部材55に支持される。このため、頭部Hがヘッドレスト1-3に対してシートバック上下方向に移動するときに、頭部Hが、板状部材55に支持されて移動することができる。これにより、板状部材55が設けられておらず頭部Hが所定部51aに支持されて移動する場合と比較して、頭部Hが後ろ側に移動することが抑制される。その結果、頭部Hが本体10(第二ステー構成部52)に引っ掛かることが抑制される。また、本実施形態では、板状部材55が、シートバック上方に向けて第二ステー構成部52まで設けられている。板状部材55の上端は、第二ステー構成部52に接続されている。このため、着座者の頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動を抑えてしまうことが効果的に抑制される。
 また、ステー50が板状部材55を備えることに代えて、あるいは板状部材55を備えることに加えて、ステー50がシートバック上方に伸ばされてもよい。図6は、シートバック上方に伸ばされたステー50を示す図である。
 ステー50がシートバック上方に伸ばされるほど、第二ステー構成部52はより上方に位置することとなるため、頭部Hのシートバック上下方向の移動が第二ステー構成部52によって抑えられてしまうことが抑制される。例えば、第二ステー構成部52が、被覆11内の最上部に位置するようにステー50が構成されることができる。
 なお、上記の各実施形態のうち複数の実施形態を相互に組み合わせてもよい。

Claims (5)

  1.  車両に設けられたシートのシートバックに支持された状態で前記シートバックの上下方向に延在し、車幅方向の異なる位置に配置された一対の第一ステー構成部と、
     各前記第一ステー構成部において前記シートバックの上下方向に直線状に延在する所定部を車幅方向に接続する第二ステー構成部と、
     を有し、
     前記所定部は、前記シートの着座者の頭部と対向しており、かつ、一方の前記所定部と他方の前記所定部との車幅方向の隙間は、前記着座者の頭部の車幅方向の幅よりも小さく、
     前記第二ステー構成部は、前記第一ステー構成部における最も前方に位置する部分よりも前方に位置する部分を有さず、
     前記第二ステー構成部のうち車幅方向における一方の前記所定部と他方の前記所定部との間に位置する部分は、前記所定部よりも前方に位置せず、かつ、少なくとも一部が、前記所定部よりも後方に位置する
     ことを特徴とするヘッドレストステー。
  2.  前記第二ステー構成部において、車幅方向における一方の前記所定部と他方の前記所定部との間に位置する部分の全てが、前記所定部よりも後方に位置する請求項1に記載のヘッドレストステー。
  3.  一方の前記所定部と他方の前記所定部とを車幅方向に接続する板状部材を備える請求項1に記載のヘッドレストステー。
  4.  請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載されたヘッドレストステーと、
     前記ヘッドレストステーを覆うカバーと、
     前記ヘッドレストステーを前記着座者に近づける方向に移動させる移動機構と、
     を備えるアクティブヘッドレスト。
  5.  前記移動機構は、機械的な入力で作動し、前記ヘッドレストステーを少なくとも前方に移動させるものであって、
     前記移動機構が前記ヘッドレストステーにおける前記上下方向の上部を前方に移動させる移動量が、下部を前方に移動させる移動量と比較して大きい請求項4に記載のアクティブヘッドレスト。
