Abstract

 【課題】 本発明は,多レベルの電気信号を扱うことなく,QAM信号を得ることができる直交振幅変調信号発生装置を提供することを目的とする。  【解決手段】       本発明は,基本的には,4つの並列したMZM(QPMZM)など並列した複数のMZMを用いることで,多レベルの電気信号を扱うことなく,直交振幅変調(QAM)信号を得ることができるQAM発生装置を提供できるという知見に基づくものである。具体的には,第1の導波路(2)と,前記第1の導波路(2)に設けられた第1の4相位相シフトキーイング(QPSK)信号発生器(3)と,前記第1の導波路(2)との合波点(4)を有する第2の導波路(5)と,前記第2の導波路(5)に設けられた第2のQPSK信号発生器(6)と,を具備する,QAM信号発生装置などに関する。
