Abstract

 透光性の基板1と有機発光層2の間に透光性の電極3を備えると共に基板1と透光性の電極3の間に光の指向性を変更する光取出し層4を備え、有機発光層2で発光した光を光取出し層4及び透光性の電極3から透光性の基板1を通して取り出すようにした有機EL発光素子に関する。光取出し層4は光散乱層5を備えて形成され、光散乱層5は、光散乱粒子6とバインダー樹脂7よりなる光散乱領域8と、光散乱領域8より光散乱粒子6の含有比率が低い光透過領域9とが、面方向で混在して形成されている。正面取り出し光の低減を抑制しつつ、斜め方向への光の取り出しの効率を増大して、高効率で光を取り出すことができる。
