Abstract

　本発明によれば、軸線方向に延び、少なくとも内部に、自身の先端部よりも熱膨張係数が大きい芯材を備え、自身の基端側に位置し、径方向に突出する鍔部と、鍔部より先端側に位置し、鍔部より小径の柱状部と、を有する中心電極と、軸線方向に延びる軸孔を有するとともに、軸孔内において鍔部を固持し、柱状部を遊嵌状態にて保持する絶縁体と、絶縁体を収納する主体金具と、を備える内燃機関用スパークプラグであって、柱状部のうち、任意の軸線方向位置Ｂにおける柱状部の外径と軸孔の内径との径差をＣｂ、軸線方向位置Ｂよりも先端側の軸線方向位置Ｆにおける柱状部の外径と軸孔の内径との径差をＣｆとしたとき、Ｃｂ＜Ｃｆを満たすことを特徴とするスパークプラグが提供される。
