Abstract

 本発明によれば、筒状の主体金具と、主体金具内に保持された筒状の絶縁碍子と、絶縁碍子内に保持され軸方向に延在する中心電極と、主体金具に固着される基端部と中心電極の先端部と間隔を設けて対向する突起部が設けられた先端部とを有し、且つ突起部が設けられた部位以外の厚みが略均一な接地電極と、を有するスパークプラグの製造方法であって、接地電極を構成するための接地電極用素材全体に対してプレス加工することによって突起部を接地電極用素材の先端部に形成するプレス成形工程と、プレス成形工程の後、接地電極用素材の基端部を主体金具に溶接する溶接工程と、を有することを特徴とするスパークプラグの製造方法が提供される。
