Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de production de particules (10) expansibles de résine styrénique récupérée, comprenant les étapes consistant à : mettre en suspension des particules de résine styrénique récupérée sous forme de noyaux dans une substance aqueuse ; ajouter, à ladite suspension, un initiateur de polymérisation destiné à pénétrer dans les particules de résine styrénique récupérée ; ajouter un monomère de styrène pour permettre le processus de polymérisation ; puis faire pénétrer un agent d'expansion dans les particules. Il est possible de dissoudre l'initiateur de polymérisation dans un monomère de styrène et de faire pénétrer cet initiateur dans les particules de résine styrénique récupérée. La réaction de polymérisation peut avoir lieu tandis que la concentration en oxygène dans le réservoir de réaction est maintenue à un niveau faible, au moins au cours d'une étape finale de la polymérisation. La surface (1) des particules peut présenter une masse moléculaire moyenne pondérale élevée.
