眾所周知醫師及其它醫護提供者經常由病人體取得生物樣品,將該等樣品置於樣品容器諸如試管或小瓶內。由於實際上測試樣品所需成本、不便及特殊技巧,醫護業者經常將樣品送至現場或非現場之檢驗室(「檢驗室」),檢驗室處理及試驗該樣品,然後將試驗結果送返醫護業者。為了協助試驗過程,醫護業者通常係對各類型試驗使用一致的樣品容器。例如,血液樣品、尿液樣品、及

本揭示提供樣品檯架及夾具之具體實施例,其可共同使用或分開使用,來允許單一機器處理提供於不同種容器內之樣品。如前文說明,不同種生物樣品典型係提供於不同種樣品容器,有強烈誘因來維持樣品彼此分開以免混淆及不當處理。如此,顯然處理設備可製作成只能處理單一種樣品。雖然諸如美國專利申請案第2008/0247914號(該案係以引用方式併入此處)所示之機器可裝配有交替固定檯架來固定與病人樣品不同的對照樣品,但該等對照樣品於單一檯架上不會與病人樣品混合,病人樣品檯架顯然不含有適用於容納多種不同樣品容器的結構。但發現本發明之實施例,允許於單一檯架或藉單一夾具裝置來安全地處理多種不同樣品容器及樣品類型。

檯架結構上可做出任何數目的變化。舉例言之,檯架100可成形為不同形狀(例如半圓形、三角形等),孔106可由下壁凸起或可使用任何其它適當結構共同連結來形成檯架100,或若有所需,或若屬期望可做出其它變化。此外,雖然所示檯架100方便藉射出模製技術製造,但若屬期望也可使用其它製造方法。
預期檯架100配置為由人類使用者或由處理機器二者操作可具有最大用途。但實施例可能只適用於供人類使用或供機器使用。例如,根據本發明之檯架之另一個實施例包含於處理機器內架設成為一固定架,且不可移出,或至少於正常操作條件下不可移出之檯架。又另一個實施例可為一檯架,其適用於供人類操縱,但不具有任何設計來協助用於特定機器的任何特殊結構。
如第1圖所示,檯架100適用於固定多種不同樣品小瓶112、114、116、118。如圖所示,此等小瓶可具有不同長度、形狀或直徑且可具有不同尺寸及不同種蓋子。例如第一小瓶112之進一步細節顯示於第3圖,包含相對大直徑之筒形容器本體112a具有螺紋帽112b及方形底112c(如此處使用「方形底」表示容器下端具有可停靠於垂直於小瓶軸之一表面上,且支撐該小瓶直立而無需任何額外撐體的形狀)。第二小瓶114之細節顯示於第4圖,包含小直徑但相對高的本體114a具有一旋上(例如插銷-嵌合或螺接)帽114b及方形底114c。於本實施例中,方形底114c具有圓化壁,該壁係由提供方形結構之裙裾所圍繞。第三小瓶116之細節

參考第2圖至第6圖,樣品檯架100可經由使用配合各種小瓶形狀之多種孔洞形狀來配合容納多種不同小瓶。
如第2圖及第3圖所示,第一孔形狀201包含第一橫撐體及第一縱撐體之組合,該橫撐體係於橫向固定第一小瓶112之底部,該縱撐體係於縱向支撐第一小瓶112。第一橫撐體之實例係以第一筒形壁202之形狀顯示,而第一縱撐體之實例係以由第一筒形壁202之底部向內延伸之第一輻射狀壁204之形狀顯示。雖然第一筒形壁202及第一輻射狀壁204接合,但非必要,二者可彼此隔開或藉一間隙(諸如盛裝任何潑濺出的流體之流體溝)分開。第一筒形壁202係與第一小瓶112底部約略相同尺寸但比底部之外徑略微較大,但若有所需,可設置一些微間隙或緊度密合。間隙或緊度密合的使用如業界已知可由製造公差變數提示,小瓶尺寸有較大變化時提示筒形壁尺寸略微較大,但非必要。若有所需,筒形壁或小瓶可建立某種程度的彎曲來輔助確保第一小瓶112之一致插入性及適當固定。為了配合校
準、插入及移出,第一筒形壁202可略呈錐形,朝向底部變窄。於第一筒形壁202頂部可設置去角206或圓化唇,來藉增加對非校準的容許度而協助樣品小瓶的插入。第一輻射狀壁204係由該第一筒形壁202向內輻射狀延伸,且如圖所示可為水平或若有所需,可向上或向下夾角。第一孔形狀201也包括撓性夾或高摩擦力夾(圖中未顯示)、載有彈簧之垂片等來協助配合尺寸變化或協助將第一小瓶112固定定位。
須了解第一筒形壁202及第一輻射狀壁204可包括切除部、空隙、或形狀變化而不會超出描述該壁之概略形狀所使用之術語範圍。例如,第一筒形壁202可形成有多個夾或肋,而非形成固體壁,以及用於本發明之目的,仍然形成筒形壁。至於另一個實例,第一輻射狀壁204可包含一個或多個分開凸部,其係由第一筒形壁202向內延伸,而非一連續表面。如此,當例如「筒形」、「輻射狀」、「錐形」等詞係用於上方或下方來描述壁及其它形狀時,該等術語涵蓋特別匹配所述名稱之結構、匹配所述名稱但包括空隙或於所述名稱變化之部分形狀,以及大致上形成所述名稱之結構體集合。

壁210。第二筒形及輻射狀壁208、210之組成係類似前文說明之第一筒形及輻射狀壁202、204,且包括諸如推拔部或分開可撓性夾具裝置等結構。去角212或圓化唇可設置於第二筒形壁208頂部,將該第二筒形壁結合至第一輻射狀壁204,以及藉由增加對未校準的容許度來協助樣品小瓶的插入。
第2圖及第5圖示例顯示容納及固定第三小瓶116之第三孔形狀213。該第三孔形狀213包括於橫向固定第三小瓶116之一第三橫撐體及於縱向支撐該第三小瓶116之一第三縱撐體。第三橫撐體之實例顯示為第三筒形壁214,其可為形成第二筒形壁208之相同壁之一部分。第三縱撐體之實例包含一錐形壁216,其係位在第二輻射狀壁210之向內方向及向下延伸。錐形壁216通常係匹配第三小瓶116之錐形底端,避免小瓶向下移動。須了解錐形壁216也可提供小瓶116某種程度的橫向支撐,以及若小瓶形狀允許,則可使用單一錐形壁來提供所需全部縱向及橫向支撐。此外,於其它實施例中,錐形壁216可由輻射狀壁或只支撐第三試管之輪廓形底端116c之梢端的其它水平壁置換。
第2圖及第6圖示例說明其中第四小瓶118固定於檯架100之方式。於本實施例中,第四小瓶118之底端118c具有約略與第二小瓶114之底部114c相同尺寸及相同形狀,且係以相同方式固定於檯架100。
由前述實施例可知孔形狀之組合可提供來配合於單一檯架孔中多種不同樣品管。大致上,孔有足夠結構
來於縱向及橫向固定各個小瓶。所示結構係以下述順序由檯架100之上表面104向下延伸:具有相對大直徑之第一筒形壁202,由第一筒形壁202向下延伸之第一輻射狀壁204,由第一輻射狀壁204向下延伸之第二筒形壁208,由第二筒形壁208向下延伸之第二輻射狀壁210,及由第二輻射狀壁210向下延伸之錐形壁216。容後詳述,第一及第二輻射狀壁204、210及錐形壁216之位置可選擇而將多個小瓶定位於特定高度來協助處理。此外,孔106可配置來將各孔實質上維持於同心,其理由說明如下。
發現前述樣品檯架100之實例由製造觀點而言為有益,其中具有此種構造之孔方便使用簡單射出成形技術成形為托盤之一單元部分,但並非全部實施例皆要求此一面相。於其它實施例中,可使用其它結構來提供小瓶所需之橫向及縱向支撐。舉例言之,筒形壁可由離散的環形置換,由形成於縱向間隔板之孔,由一系列從一共通底壁升高之縱向延伸插銷,或由其它形狀置換。排列順序也可顛倒,因此多種壁係由一共通底壁向上延伸。又,支撐於檯架之小瓶數目可減至低抵2,或增至如實際上所需之多數。此外,須了解雖然於所示檯架中之各個樣品孔適用於固定多個樣品小瓶尺寸,但檯架可經修改使得某些孔只能容納單一尺寸小瓶。例如當一個尺寸之樣品數目超過其它尺寸樣品,結果導致各個孔內較少需要使用其它樣品尺寸時,或當期望將含有對照試劑之小瓶放置於檯架時可能期望如此。
如前文說明,額外夾子、彈簧載荷垂片、或其它裝置可設置來協助固定不同尺寸的小瓶。但較佳避免使用此種裝置。於較佳具體實施例中,孔106係單純由成形材料製成(且可包括其它產生摩擦力的材料,諸如過度模製的軟橡膠),且無需移動部件或額外夾子、配接器或其它可能造成設計複雜化、可靠度降低或成本增高之裝置來固定至少兩種不同小瓶。雖然可使用配接器或部件來增加額外小瓶至一孔,但更佳係避免使用此等裝置。
參考第2圖至第5圖,孔106適用於固定有多種形狀之小瓶,使得小瓶頂部係於欲由夾具220所接受之預定位置。如第2圖所示,夾具220之實例包含兩個相對指222,二指可同時彼此相向或彼此相反方向移動來抓住小瓶。為了協助確保小瓶被一指所接觸而尚未被另一指所接觸之前過度傾斜,小瓶較佳係同心固定於孔內。夾具的移動可為線性且大致上係侷限於水平面,但也可使用其它移動路徑來取而代之。
其它實施例可使用其它種夾具,諸如有多於二指222之夾具、以旋轉方式移動之指、固定指與活動指的組合、條帶型夾具、彈性伸縮節、及其它機構。只要夾具接近且接合小瓶時,夾具不會過度傾斜或移動小瓶,則可使用任一型夾具。例如,可使用具有一個或多個固定指及一個或多個活動指之夾具,只要於接合期間夾具不會過度傾斜小瓶即可。為了達成此項目的,使用具有固定指夾具之實施例可具有檯架孔,其係經修改來非同心地固定不同尺
寸的小瓶,因此各種尺寸小瓶之一側於接合過程期間相對靠近固定指,活動指的移動經由於接觸小瓶後,行進相當大段距離,朝向固定指而不會過度傾斜小直徑小瓶。
指222可藉任何適當馬達諸如氣動或液壓活塞或電動馬達操作,且包括任何適當聯結或致動件來獲得期望的移動。適當夾具驅動裝置及聯結裝置之設計與實施係屬於熟諳技藝人士之技巧範圍而在此無需說明。
各個指222可包括適用於抓住多種不同小瓶中之一者或多者之一個或多個夾緊面。例如於所示實施例中,指222各自具有適用於抓住第一小瓶112之各側之第一夾緊件224,及適用於夾緊第二小瓶114或第三小瓶116之各側之第二夾緊件226。第一及第二夾緊件224、226可為平面或可具有曲面,其大致上匹配小瓶之外周邊,且可包括橡皮夾或其它增強夾緊力之結構。
第一夾緊件224係位在第二夾緊件226下方且進一步遠離隔開。如第3圖至第5圖所示,孔106係配置成夾具220可下降至遠離檯架100至預定高度H1,於該高度,第一夾緊件224係定位來抓握第一小瓶112之頂部。於相同高度H1,第二夾緊件226係定位來抓握第二及第三小瓶114、116之頂部。如此,夾具220只需下降至單一預定高度H1來拾起第一、第二或第三小瓶112、114、116,儘管此等小瓶之形狀有顯著差異。如第6圖所示,第四小瓶118比其它小瓶顯著更短,可能需要下降夾具220至更低的第二高度H2來使用第二夾緊件226拾取第四小瓶118。
於另一個實施例中,可刪除夾緊件224、226中之一者,孔106適用於固定小瓶112、114、116,使得其頂部皆位在可藉單一夾緊件抓握的相同高度。但若小瓶間之直徑有重大差異,以及為了提供單一組夾緊件有足夠移動範圍來抓握大型及小型小瓶,導致額外設計複雜度,則發現使用有多個夾緊件之單一夾具是一種適當有用的設計選項。
根據具體實施例之檯架100可相當類似如同習知用來只固定一種樣品容器之檯架般使用。操作員可於檯架100內載荷提供於多種不同樣品容器,諸如所示小瓶112、114、116、118內之樣品。檯架100較佳係插入系統內,諸如美國專利申請案第12/588,304號(先前已經併入此處)所述之前置分析系統,該系統可使用一夾具諸如夾具220來選擇性將各個樣品小瓶移出檯架100供處理,然後將樣品小瓶送回檯架。於架設檯架之前,使用者可規劃該系統來識別固定於各個孔內之小瓶類型。另外,系統可包括掃描器,掃描器可確定當載荷入系統中或載荷後之小瓶類型。例如條碼掃描器可掃描各個小瓶來識別與該條碼相關聯之小瓶類型,或可使用形狀檢測系統來以目測方式檢查及識別各個小瓶。但於更佳系統中,系統可由檯架拾取小瓶而未通知哪一種小瓶係位在檯架位置。於此種實施例中,當小瓶拾取系統由檯架中拾取小瓶時,也可識別小瓶的類型,或小瓶類型可於下游處理位置測定,諸如於與夾具或其它處理站相關聯之條碼掃描器位置測定。無論如何識別小瓶類
型,系統可將小瓶類型以映射表儲存,若有所需,映射表可用來執行各種小瓶內所含樣品之任一種獨特處理步驟。例如,當兩種不同小瓶含有不等量或不同種樣品儲存介質時,可能需要比不同方式處理取自於該等樣品中之樣品。經由映射小瓶種類,以及如此映射推定於該小瓶內所含之樣品種類,系統可追蹤由該小瓶中擷取之樣品,以及當該小瓶前進通過任何數目的處理步驟時執行該樣品類型之適當處理步驟。
參考第2圖至第5圖,檯架100及夾具220可配置及操作,使得自動化系統可拾取多種不同小瓶中之任一者而未預先通知小瓶類型。如前文說明,所示小瓶112、114、116皆係位在交錯的夾緊件224、226可抓握任一種小瓶之適當高度。於操作中,系統將夾具220定位於高於孔106上方之預定高度H1,指222展開夠寬來配合任何期望的尺寸大小。夾具220藉由垂直向下朝向檯架100移動,橫向移動(此處指張開夠寬而可避開小瓶頂部),或經由組合式移動而定位於其起點位置。於處理過程中,檯架100可維持固定,或檯架100可連同夾具220一起或替代夾具220移動。
一旦定位於預定高度H1,夾具將指222朝向彼此閉合直到第一或第二夾緊件224、226接觸且抓握小瓶。例如,若第一小瓶112係位於孔106,則於第一夾緊件220接合第一小瓶112之前,指222將關閉相當短距離,如指222間之剩餘間隙W1指示。若第二小瓶114係位於孔106內,則指222將關閉直到第二夾緊件226接合小瓶蓋114b,小瓶蓋114b環
繞小瓶本體114a且具有略微較大的直徑,於指222間留下較小間隙W2。同理,若第三小瓶116係於孔106中,則指222將於第三小瓶本體116a上關閉,原因在於蓋116b係位在小瓶本體116a之內部而非外部,當第二夾緊件226接合小瓶時留下一個又更小的間隙W3。於本實施例中,夾具220無需垂直移動來接合三個小瓶類型中之任一者,如此簡化程式規劃且允許使用相對簡單及較為價廉的處理設備。雖言如此,於其它實施例中,於夾具之關閉路徑可提供若干垂直移動。
一旦夾具220已經適當接合小瓶,則藉任何適當防止過載系統可防止指222之進一步靠近。例如,總可用閉合力限於允許適當抓握來升高及移動小瓶的程度,但防止小瓶之扭曲或損壞(例如經由使用於閉合機構中之過載離合器、使用低力道氣壓驅動裝置等),或閉合力可受控制電路所限(例如以壓力感測器感測閉合壓力,基於小瓶大小之光學測量來限制閉合距離,使用力道回授馬達控制等)。當使用按壓帽來封閉小瓶頂部諸如用於小瓶116之帽116b時,夾具220可成形為或以足夠閉合壓力接合小瓶壁,使得夾具220不會移開帽116b而將小瓶116留在檯架100中。
夾具220也包括識別小瓶類型之結構。舉例言之,編碼器可定位於一指或二指222或定位於力道回授馬達系統來測量夾具220接合小瓶的所在位置。系統可比較本測量值與已知小瓶直徑表(考慮已知的或測量得的小瓶尺寸變化及編碼器誤差範圍)來決定被抓握於夾具220中之小瓶
類型。於其它實施例中,可提供一個或多個光學感測器來測定欲知之小瓶類型。舉例言之,第一光學感測器228可設置於第一夾緊件224中之一者上方,來檢測何時第一類型小瓶112出現於第一夾緊件224。第二或第三小瓶114、116的出現可使用類似的光學感測器測定。例如,可設置一對感測器包含位在第二夾緊件226正上方之第二光學感測器230及位在第二夾緊件上方但比第二光學感測器230徑向向內之第三光學感測器232。當存在有第二小瓶114時,二感測器將指示物件的存在;但當存在有第三小瓶116時,第二光學感測器230將檢測該物件,但第三光學感測器232不會檢測物件,原因在於有一鏜孔502(第5圖)存在於第三小瓶蓋116b中央。諸如此等光學感測器可用來檢測是否並無任何試管存在於孔,或監視於運輸期間是否有試管存在於夾具,且若試管從夾具掉落時,指示錯誤情況。
於夾具220接合小瓶後,夾具將小瓶舉高脫離孔106,及輸送小瓶用於進一步處理。於此等處理期間,若尚未測定小瓶之身分則系統可掃描小瓶上的識別符,諸如條碼或射頻識別信號來識別小瓶類型及樣品類型,以及將此等資訊用於後來的處理步驟。例如,夾具當輸送小瓶時可讓樣品小瓶通過條碼掃描器,小瓶被輸送至一除蓋、滴量及加蓋系統,於該處移除小瓶蓋,移出樣品,以及再蓋回蓋子,樣品呈現至夾具且將樣品送回檯架上該小瓶的原先位置。
回頭參考第6圖,於某些情況下,樣品小瓶118
可成形為或其尺寸使得於預定高度H1操作之夾具220對其它小瓶將無法適當定位來接合小瓶118。於此種情況下,夾具220可根據更佳繁瑣的移動路徑操作來接合此種小瓶。於所示實施例中,例如小瓶118之尺寸適用於藉第二夾緊件226夾緊,但太短,而當夾具220於第一高度H1移動時無法接合。於本實施例中,夾具220經程式規劃來於水平方向靠近第一高度H1,若於該高度未檢測得或未拾取任何小瓶,則略微放開且移動至更低高度H2,以及重新開始閉合。若小瓶118係出現於第二高度H2,則該小瓶被移出進行進一步處理。可使用控制器邏輯電路,諸如暫存器登錄項目來指示夾具220於接合小瓶118之前下降,用來映射該小瓶屬於較短的類型,此項資訊用來控制夾具220,當小瓶118被送返孔106之前將夾具220進一步下降。若一給定檯架中並無任何小瓶(或於處理系統中未使用任何小瓶)需要於分開高度操作夾具220,則當夾具將各個小瓶送返檯架時,無需考慮小瓶類型,原因在於將各個小瓶送返檯架100之垂直行程皆相同。
實例
所示具體實施例係設計來固定具有多種形狀及尺寸之48個樣品小瓶。部分或全部樣品小瓶可用作為取自人類子宮頸之細胞樣品的收集小瓶,意圖用來試驗是否有人類乳突瘤病毒(「HPV」)DNA或其它病毒或病症的存在。第一小瓶112包含凱金公司提供之「普索喜特」小瓶。第二小瓶114包含有平坦裙裾部之10毫升(「ml」)沙史代
(Sarstaedt)圓試管。第三小瓶116包含12毫升沙史代錐形試管。第四小瓶118包含另一種凱金小瓶。此等類型試管之任一種混合情況皆可固定於檯架100,檯架100可用來儲存小瓶,或於不同檢驗室間運送小瓶,諸如於細胞學檢驗室與HPV試驗檢驗室間。檯架100也可配置來用作為前置分析系統中之樣品架,諸如美國專利申請案第12/588,304號(先前已併入此處)中所述,以及於其第2圖及第4圖所示。

Claims (12)
- 一種檯架,其包含:多個孔,該多個孔各自被設置以選擇性固定具有第一高度之至少一第一樣品容器及具有第二高度之至少一第二樣品容器,該第二高度實質上是不同於該第一高度;及一接合該多個孔之結構;其中該第一樣品容器具有第一直徑,該第二樣品容器具有第二直徑,且該第二直徑實質上是不同於該第一直徑;其中該多個孔各自被設置以同心地固定該第一樣品容器與該第二樣品容器,且該第一樣品容器之上端及該第二樣品容器之上端自該檯架之上表面呈相同的距離;其中該多個孔各自包含:一第一孔形狀,其具有一用以橫向固定該第一樣品容器之第一橫撐體,及一用以縱向固定該第一樣品容器之第一縱撐體;及一第二孔形狀,其具有一用以橫向固定該第二樣品容器之第二橫撐體,及一用以縱向固定該第二樣品容器之第二縱撐體。
