Denne oppfinnelse angår heteroatom-substituerte cyklopentadienyl-holdige ligan- der, metallkomplekser inneholdende disse ligander, samt katalysatorsystemer fremstilt ut fra katalysatorkomponenter omfattende disse metallkomplekser. Metallkompleksene inne- holder en heteroatom-Cp-binding eller en ring-heteroatom-Cp-binding i 2-stillingen på Cp. I foretrukne metallkomplekser er liganden en 2-heteroatom-substituert indenylgruppe. Ka- talysatorsystemene for olefinpolymerisering kan anvendes ved høye temperaturer, er meget aktive og gir polymer med høy molekylvekt.
