Abstract
The metal complex has the formula I wherein: M is Ti, Zr or Hf; j is 1 or 2; each RA is independently optionally substituted hydrocarbyl or hydrocarbylsilyl having up to 80 non-hydrogen atoms or two RA groups can be covalently linked with each other to form one or more fused rings or ring systems; RB, RW, RX, RY and RZ independently are H or optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylsilyl having up to 80 non-hydrogen atoms or two or more of RB, RW, RX, RY and RZ groups can be covalently linked with each other to form one or more fused rings or ring systems; Z is a divalent moiety bound to both Cp and M via s-bonds with Z being boron or a member of group 14 of the periodic table of elements or nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur or oxygen; X is anionic or di-anionic ligand group of up to 60 atoms exclusive of the class of ligands that are cyclic, delocalised p-bound ligands groups; each X' is independently a neutral lewis base ligating compound of up to 20 atoms; p is 0 to 2 and is two less than the formal oxidation state of M when X is an anionic ligand or when X is a di-anionic ligand group p is 1 and q is 0 to 2. The metal complex is used in a catalyst system for olefin polymerization which also contains a co-catalyst.
