Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a una cepa Bacillus caracterizada por (i): sensibilidad a ampicilina, vancomicina, gentamicina, kanamicina, estreptomicina, eritromicina, clindamicina, tetraciclina y cloranfenicol; (ii) actividad antimicrobiana contra E. coli y Clostridium perfringens; y (iii) un porcentaje de esporulación de al menos 80 cuando se mide después de 2 días de incubación. La invención además se relaciona a un método para seleccionar tales cepas. Muchas de las cepas identificadas de acuerdo a la invención son de la especie Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Algunas de Bacillus amyloliquefaciens además se identificaron como Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subsp. amyloliquefaciens mientras otras se identificaron como amyloliquefaciens subsp. plantarum. Una cepa Bacillus de la invención puede usarse como un aditivo de alimentación animal donde tiene un efecto probiótico.
