Abstract

액트비 매트릭스 기판은 매트릭스 방식으로 배열된 복수의 픽셀과 복수의 픽셀 각각에 직렬 접속된 복수이 스위칭 소자를 구비하되, 상기 각 스위칭 소자는 게이트전극을 가지며, 복수의 스위칭 소자를 적어도 하나의 게이트 전극이 다른 스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극과 전기적으로 격리되어 있는 구성을 특징으로 한다.

액티브 매트릭스 기판과 그의 구동방법

제1도는 본 발명에 따른 전형적인 액티브 매트릭스 기판의 평면도, 제2도는 제1도의 액티브 매트릭스 기판의 회로도, 제5도는 직렬로 접속된 두 TFT의 게이트 전극에 상이한 전위가 인가될 때의 I-V특성을 보인 도면.

Claims (6)

  1. 매트릭스 방식으로 배열된 복수의 픽셀과, 상기 복수의 픽셀 각각에 직렬로 접속된 복수의 스위칭 소자를 구비하되, 상기 복수의 스위칭 소자의 각각은 게이트전극을 갖고, 상기 복수의 스위칭 소자의 적어도 하나의 게이트 전극은 다른 스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극과는 전기적으로 격리되어 있는 액티브 매트릭스 기판.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 스위칭 소자는 박막 트랜지스터인 액티브 매트릭스 기판.
  3. 매트릭스 방식으로 배열된 복수의 픽셀과, 상기 복수이 픽셀 각각에 직렬로 접속된 복수의 스위칭 소자를 구비하되, 상기 복수의 스위칭소자의 각각은 게이트전극을 갖고, 상기 복수의 스위칭 소자의 적어도 하나의 게이트 전극은 다른 스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극과는 전기적으로 격리되어 있는 액티브 매트릭스 기판을 구동하는 방법에 있어서, 복수의 스위칭 소자가 오프상태가 되도록 상기 복수의 스위칭 소자의 각 게이트 전극에 전위를 인가하되, 상기 게이트 전극중 적어도 하나에 인가되는 전위가 다른 게이트 전극에 인가되는 전위와 상이하게 하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스 기판의 구동방법.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 게이트 전극에 인가되는 전위는 상기 스위칭 소자의 순서에 따라 단조롭게 증가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스 기판의 구동방법.
  5. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 픽셀 각각에 직렬로 접속된 복수의 스위칭 소자의 수는 둘이고, 상기 액티브 기판은 디스플레이 장치에 사용되며, 상기 복수의 픽셀은 연속적인 필드를 포함하는 전압신호를 택일 하므로서 구동됨에 있어서, 제1스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극에 제1전위를 인가하고 아울러 상기 스위칭 소자가 제1필드에서 오프상태로 있도록 제2스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극에 제2전위를 인가하는 단계와, 상기 제1스위칭 소자의 게이트 전극에 제2전위를 인가하고 아울러 상기 스위칭소자가 다음의 제2필드에서 오프상태로 있도록 상기 제2스위칭소자의 게이트 전극에 상기 제1전위를 인가하는 단계와, 각 필드에서 상기 단계들은 택일적으로 반복하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스 기판의 구동방법.
