Abstract
본 발명의 능동 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치는 다수의 액정 엘리먼트를 갖는다. 각 액정 멜러먼트는 트랜지스터부, 상기 트랜지스터부에 전기적으로 접속된 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막(116), 및 트랜지스터측에 결합된 대향 전극(121)을 가진 액정 엘리먼트를 갖고 있다. 각 액정 엘리먼트에는 상기 대향 전극(121)에 접속된 제1전위 단자 및 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막(116)에 접속된 제2전위 단자가 있는데, 상기 제1전위단자에 의해 인가된 전위(Vcom)는 제2전위 단자에 의해 인가된 전위(Vsc)와 다르게 되어 있다. 이러한 배열로 인하여, 액정의 역전 경사의 원인이 되는 화소 부분 주위의 측면 필드 성분이 수직 필드 성분에 비하여 상대적으로 감소되어 디스클리네이션이 감소되고 잔상없이 우수한 디스플레이 특성을 제공할 수 있다.

제1도는 일본 특허 출원 공개 정보 평3-50527호에 개시된 액정 디스플레이 장치의 종래 단위 화소의 평면도, 제11도는 본 발명에 따른 제1실시예의 단위 화소의 등가회로도.
Claims (4)
- 다수의 액정 엘리먼트를 가진 능동 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치에 있어서, 상기 액정 엘리먼트 각각이, 게이트 전극(1 : 111), 게이트 절연막(115), 반도체막(2), 소스전극(4), 드레인 전극(3: 113), 및 패시베이션 절연막(117)을 가진 트랜지스터부, 전기적으로 상기 트랜지스터 부에 결합되어 있으며 개방 부분을 갖고 있는 트랜지스터측 전도성 차공막(116), 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막이 상기 개방 부분위에 형성되며 전기적으로는 상기 트랜지스터부의 상기 소스 전극에 접속된 화소 전극(5; 105), 상기 패시베이션 절연막 상에 형성된 액정층(130), 상기 액정층 위에 형성된 대향 전극(121), 및 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막에 상기 대향 전극에 인가된 전위와는 별도의 전위를 인가하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 전위 인가수단은 상기 대향 전극(112)에 접속된 제1전위 단자(Vcmo)와 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막(116)에 접속된 제2전위 단자(Vsc)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막(116)은 상기 대향 전극 (121)에 인가된 오프세트 전압보다 수십볼트 낮은 부하 전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 트랜지스터부에 있는 백 채널상의 상기 패시베이션 절연막(117) 위에 피착된 백채널측 도전성 차광막(14; 140) 및 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막(116)상에 피착된 절연막층(114, 115, 116)에 제공된 접촉홀을 추가로 구비하며, 상기 백채널측 도전성 차광막(116) 및 상기 트랜지스터측 도전성 차광막은 상기 접촉홀을 통해 전기적으로 서로 접속되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 능동 매트릭스형 액정 디스플레이 장치.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
