제 2 도는 본 발명의 이색성염료의 하나를 이용한 블랙/클리어 "상-변화"형 액정표시 장치의 흡수특성 도표.

Claims (32)

  1. 이색성 염료와 혼합된 네마틱액정 물질을 포함하는 물질의 조성에 있어서 상기 이색성 염료의 일반적인 구조식이 Q-A-Z일때
  2. A는 폴리/아릴아조/연결그룹이고
  3. Q는 비스치환된 아릴티아질 치환체이며
  4. Z는 4-아미노치환된 나프탈렌, 2,3-디히드로-2,2'-치환된 페리미덴과 줄로리덴 그룹등으로 구성된 그룹에서 선택된 것임을 특징으로 하는 조성물.
  5. 제 1 항의 조성물에 있어서, 상기 조성물이, 400과 600나노미터 사이의 파장에서 최대 흡수도를 갖는 이색성 염료를, 적어도 하나 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 조성물.
  6. 제 1 항의 조성물에 있어서 상기 이색성 염료가 0.5-5 중량의 양으로 존재함을 특징으로하는 조성물
  7. 제 1 항의 조성물에 있어서, 광학적으로 활성이 있는 화합물이 콜레스테릭 상을 제공하기에 충분한양으로 존재하는 것을 특징으로 하는 조성물.
  8. 전장의 유무에 따라 반응하는 "게스트-호스트"형 액정표시 장치에 있어서 상기 장치가 이색성염료와 혼합된 네마틱액정 물질층을 포함하고, 2개의 전도성 전극이 상기 층의 마주보는 표면에 근접하여 위치할때,
  9. 상기 이색성 염료의 구조식 Q-A-Z
  10. A는 폴리/아릴아조/연결그룹이고
  11. Q는 비스-치환된 아릴티아질 치환체이며
