Claims (8)
- 한 화상의 픽셀들에 대응하는 복수의 발광 요소(luminous elements)들을 구비하는 디스플레이 디바이스 내의 출력 레벨 제어 방법으로서,한 비디오 프레임 또는 비디오 필드의 존속 시간을 복수의 하위필드(SF: Sub-Field)로 분할하는 단계로서, 상기 복수의 하위필드(sub-field: SF) 동안에 상기 발광 요소들은 밝기(brightness) 제어에 사용되는 하위필드 코드 워드(SF-R, SF-G, SF-B)에 대응하는 작은 펄스들로 빛 방출을 위해 활성화될 수 있는, 상기 분할 단계와;하위필드 코딩 방법을 수행하는 단계로서, 상기 코딩 방법에서, 하위필드 코드 워드(SF-R, SF-G, SF-B)가 비디오 신호의 색 성분(R, G, B)의 입력 비디오 값에 할당되고, 출력 레벨 모드 세트가 하위필드 코딩에 제공되는, 상기 하위필드 코딩 방법을 수행하는 단계를 포함하며,여기서, 각각의 출력 레벨 모드에는 특징적 하위필드 조직이 속해 있으며, 상기 하위필드 조직은 다음의 특징들, 즉:- 하위필드의 수와,- 하위필드의 유형과,- 하위필드의 포지셔닝(positioning)과,- 하위필드의 웨이트(weight)와,- 하위필드의 프리-스케일링(pre-scaling)과,- 각 하위필드 동안에 생성된 작은 펄스들의 양을 변화시키기 위해 사용되는 상기 하위필드의 웨이트를 위한 인자 중 하나 또는 그 이상에 대하여 변화가능하며;여기서 상기 방법은 비디오 화상의 출력 레벨에 대해 특성 값(AP)을 결정하는 단계와,상기 하위필드 코딩에 대해 상기 특성 값(AP)에 대응하는 출력 레벨 모드를 선택하는 단계를 더 포함하며,여기서, 상기 출력 레벨 모드 사이의 전환은 유사-히스테리시스 전환으로 제어되며, 상기 유사-히스테리시스 전환은 상기 특성 값(AP)의 함수로서 출력 레벨 모드 선택을 동적으로 제어하기 위해 구현되는,출력 레벨 제어 방법.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 비디오 화상의 출력 레벨을 위한 상기 특성 값(AP)은 평균 화상 출력 값인, 출력 레벨 제어 방법.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 하위필드의 예비-스케일링은 어떠한 디지털 값이 100 IRE의 비디오 레벨에 할당되는지를 결정하는, 출력 레벨 제어 방법.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 있어서, 상기 유사-히스테리시스 전환 제어를 위하여 출력 레벨 모드 대 화상 평균 출력 다이아그램 내의 두 평행한 선이 사용되며 다음의 규칙들, 즉:i) 화상 평균 출력이 증가하는 때는, 상부의 선(top line) 상의 출력 레벨을 가진 모드가 선택되는 규칙;ii) 화상 평균 출력이 감소하는 때는, 하부의 선(bottom line) 상의 출력 레벨을 가진 모드가 선택되는 규칙;iii) 상기 화상 평균 출력 증가 방향이 변화하는 경우에는, 새로운 출력 레벨 모드로의 전환이, 상기 화상 평균 출력 레벨이 각각의 다른 하부 또는 상부의 선 상에 놓여질 때까지 억제되는 규칙;이 적용되는, 출력 레벨 제어 방법.
- 제 1항 또는 제 2항에 기재된 방법을 실행하도록 적응된 장치로서,비디오 화상의 출력 레벨에 대한 특성 값(AP)을 결정하기 위해 평균 화상 출력이 측정되는 평균 화상 전력 측정 회로(10)와;상기 측정된 평균 화상 출력 값을 고려하여, 어떠한 출력 레벨 모드가 선택될 것인지를 결정하는 출력 레벨 제어 유닛(11)과;특정 인자로 입력 비디오 레벨의 정규화를 수행하는 예비-스케일링 유닛(12)과;상기 선택된 출력 레벨 모드에 대응하는 밝기 제어를 위해 정규화된 입력 비디오 레벨에 하위필드 코드 워드가 할당되는 하위필드 인코딩 유닛(13)을 포함하며,여기서, 출력 레벨 모드(17)와 히스테리시스 곡선(18)의 표는 상기 측정된 화상 평균 출력의 함수로서 상기 출력 레벨 모드 선택을 동적 제어하기 위해 구현되며, 상기 화상 평균 출력의 함수는 출력 레벨 모드의 선택을 위해 상기 출력 레벨 제어 유닛(11)에서 고려되는, 장치.
- 제 5항에 있어서, 디스플레이 디바이스, 특히 플라즈마 디스플레이 디바이스에 통합되는, 장치.
