(発明の要旨)
本願で説明される装置および方法は、身体管腔、特に血管系内の障害物を排除する改良型手段を提供する。装置および方法の特徴は、閉塞性物質の制御された除去を可能にする。一部の変化型では、方法および装置はまた、身体管腔から装置を除去する必要なく、物質を手術部位から離して運搬する特徴を有する。付加的な側面は、制御された組織除去率、ならびに管腔壁の偶発的な切削を防ぐその他の安全機能を含む。本願で説明される装置および方法は、血管からの物質の除去について論じるものの、ある場合においては、装置および方法には、その他の身体管腔における適用性もある。下記の装置の変化型および特徴は、選択的に、またはカッターを有する柔軟本体を含む基本装置構造と組み合わせて、組み込まれてもよく、カッターは、筐体およびカッターを含み、筐体およびカッターは、互いに対して回転することが可能であることが、注意されるべきである。変化型は、筐体内で回転するカッター、カッターの周囲で回転する筐体、およびそれらの組み合わせを含む。

Claims (5)
- 身体管腔から物質を除去するための装置であって、
より硬い近位部と、柔軟性遠位部と、それを通って延在するカテーテル管腔とを有するカテーテルと、
前記カテーテルの前記遠位部に回転可能に連結されるカッターアセンブリであって、前記カッターアセンブリは、少なくとも1つの溝付き刃先を有するカッターを含み、前記カッターは筐体内に位置し、かつ前記筐体の遠位開口部において露出されて、前方切削面を形成しているカッターアセンブリと、
前記カテーテル管腔を通って延在し、かつ前記カッターアセンブリに連結される第1の端を有する回転可能トルクシャフトであって、前記カッターを回転させるように構成されたトルクシャフトと、
前記カテーテル管腔内に配置される掃引鞘であって、成形遠位部を有する掃引鞘と、
前記掃引鞘に結合された掃引制御ノブを有する制御システムであって、前記掃引制御ノブおよび前記掃引鞘は、前記掃引鞘の成形遠位部を前記カテーテルの柔軟性遠位部内に導入することによって前記カッターアセンブリを偏向させるように前記トルクシャフトに対して軸方向に摺動可能であり、かつ、前記掃引制御ノブおよび前記掃引鞘は、前記カッターアセンブリを前記カテーテルのより硬い近位部の軸の周囲で掃引するように前記トルクシャフトに対して回転可能である制御システムと
を有する装置。 - 前記カッターは、部分的に前記筐体の前記遠位開口部を越えて延在する請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記カッターおよび前記筐体は第1の方向に回転する請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記カッターは第1の速度で回転し、前記筐体は第2の速度で回転し、前記第1および第2の速度は異なっている請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記カッターは第1の方向に回転し、前記筐体は第2の方向に回転する請求項1に記載の装置。
