少なくとも貴金属を少なくともコート層の排ガス上流側に担持し、Mg、K、Na、Sr、Caから選ばれるSO x 吸蔵材を担持しない上流側触媒部と、
上流側触媒部の排ガス下流側でMg、K、Na、Sr、Caから選ばれるSOx 吸蔵材をコート層に担持した下流側触媒部と、を有することにある。
図1に本発明の一実施例に係る硫黄吸蔵触媒を示す。この硫黄吸蔵触媒は、断面四角形のセル通路を多数備えたストレートフローハニカム形状の担体基材1と、そのセル隔壁10の表面に形成された触媒コート層2とからなる。触媒コート層2の排ガス上流側には、BaとPtとを担持した上流側触媒部20が形成され、その下流側にはMgとBaとPtとを担持した下流側触媒部21が形成されている。下流側触媒部21は、担体基材1の出ガス側端面から担体基材1の全長の3/10の範囲に形成されている。
実施例1と同様にコート層が形成された担体基材1を用い、実施例1と同様にして全体に均一にPtを担持した。次に所定濃度の酢酸マグネシウム及び酢酸バリウムの混合水溶液の所定量を全体に含浸し、 120℃で1時間及び 300℃で2時間乾燥して、全体に均一にBaとMgを担持した。Ba及びMgの担持量は、担体基材1の見掛けの体積1リットルあたり共に 0.3モルである。最終的に、電気炉にて 500℃で1時間焼成した。
実施例1と比較例1の硫黄吸蔵触媒の構成を、表1にまとめて示す。
実施例1と同様にして、上流側触媒部20と下流側触媒部21の比率が異なる硫黄吸蔵触媒を調製した。具体的には、下流側触媒部21の範囲をゼロ、担体基材1の全長の1/10、3/10、1/2、7/10、1/1の6水準でそれぞれ触媒を調製した。下流側触媒部21におけるMgの担持量は、全て実施例1と同様である。なお下流側触媒部21の範囲がゼロのものはMgを担持しておらず、1/1のものは比較例1と同様の触媒である。
次にMgの担持量の影響を調査した。すなわち、実施例1の硫黄吸蔵触媒において、下流側触媒部21の範囲は3/10で一定とし、下流側触媒部21におけるMgの担持量をゼロ、0.05モル/L、 0.1モル/L、 0.3モル/L、 0.5モル/L、 1.0モル/Lの6水準でそれぞれ触媒を調製した。

Claims (4)
- 担体基材と、多孔質酸化物よりなり該担体基材の表面に形成されたコート層と、該コート層に担持された貴金属と、アルカリ金属及びアルカリ土類金属から選ばれ該コート層に担持されたSOx 吸蔵材と、よりなり、排ガス中の硫黄成分を硫黄酸化物として吸蔵し、NO x 吸蔵還元型触媒の排ガス上流側に配置される硫黄吸蔵触媒であって、
少なくとも該貴金属を少なくとも該コート層の排ガス上流側に担持し、Mg、K、Na、Sr、Caから選ばれるSO x 吸蔵材を担持しない上流側触媒部と、
該上流側触媒部の排ガス下流側でMg、K、Na、Sr、Caから選ばれるSOx 吸蔵材を該コート層に担持した下流側触媒部と、を有することを特徴とする硫黄吸蔵触媒。 - 前記下流側触媒部は、前記担体基材の下流側端面から上流側へ向かって前記担体基材の全長の1/10〜1/2の範囲に形成されている請求項1に記載の硫黄吸蔵触媒。
- Mg、K、Na、Sr、Caから選ばれる前記SOx 吸蔵材の担持量は、前記担体基材の体積1リットルあたり 0.1〜 0.5モルである請求項1又は請求項2に記載の硫黄吸蔵触媒。
- 前記上流側触媒部にはBaが担持されている請求項1に記載の硫黄吸蔵触媒。
