- フェノール樹脂,タール,又はピッチの何れか一若しくはこれらを任意に組み合わせた混合物からなる有機バインダーと、液体状、粒径1000nm以下の微粒子が溶媒中に分散されたコロイド状又は懸濁液状の、遷移金属又は遷移金属塩の溶液又は分散液と、基材粒子である耐火性骨材の粒子及び炭素基質原料とを含む出発原料を混練し、その混練物を成形し、その成形体を還元雰囲気又は非酸化雰囲気中で600℃から1200℃の温度で熱処理することにより前記基材粒子間にカーボンボンドが形成された耐火物であって、
前記出発原料は、前記耐火性骨材の粒子99〜45重量部及び前記炭素基質原料1〜55重量部に対して、外掛けで、前記有機バインダーの固形分として1.5〜20重量部、及び前記遷移金属又は遷移金属塩の溶液又は分散液中に前記遷移金属又は遷移金属塩を金属量として0.01〜1.0重量部含み、
前記カーボンボンドには、直径50nm以下の炭素繊維状組織が含有され、粒子径が1000nm以下の遷移金属又は遷移金属塩を含む微粒子が分散された状態で含有されていることを特徴とする耐火物。 - 前記カーボンボンドには、前記基材粒子、及び有機バインダーに、液体状、粒径1000nm以下の微粒子が溶媒中に分散されたコロイド状又は懸濁液状の、遷移金属又は遷移金属塩の溶液又は分散液を添加してなる出発原料を混合し熱処理することによりボンド組織内部に析出した金属含有ナノ粒子が含まれていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の耐火物。
- 前記遷移金属又は遷移金属塩の溶液又は分散液は、有機バインダーとの相溶性を有する有機金属化合物の溶液又は分散液であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の耐火物。
- 前記カーボンボンド内に含まれる遷移金属又は遷移金属塩の量が、耐火物全体の1wt%以下(0wt%は除く)であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3の何れか一に記載の耐火物。
- 前記基材粒子には、耐火骨材及び炭素基質原料の粒子が含まれることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4の何れか一に記載の耐火物。
