Description
Claims (13)
- 電界の強度に応じて光学特性が変化する光学特性変化層と、前記光学特性変化層を挟んで互いに対向する位置に設けられた画素電極及び対向電極とを有する表示用光学デバイスを駆動する駆動装置において、
前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に動画像信号に応じた電圧を印加して、前記光学特性変化層の光学特性を前記動画像信号に応じて変化させる駆動部と、
前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に印加する電圧の極性を、前記動画像信号の画面周期のn(nは1以上の整数)倍の周期で反転させる反転制御部とを備え、
前記反転制御部は、所定の位相変更周期を変動させながら、前記極性を反転する制御信号の位相を該位相変更周期毎に180度変化させる駆動装置。 - 前記位相変更周期を、周期的に変動させる請求項1記載の駆動装置。
- 前記表示用光学デバイスの光学特性変化層は、液晶である請求項1記載の駆動装置。
- 前記表示用光学デバイスは、画素電極が形成されたシリコン基板と、前記シリコン基板上に設けられた液晶と、前記液晶を挟んで対向する位置に設けられた透明材料からなる対向電極とを有する反射型液晶表示素子である請求項1記載の駆動装置。
- 電界の強度に応じて光学特性が変化する光学特性変化層と、前記光学特性変化層を挟んで互いに対向する位置に設けられた画素電極及び対向電極とを有する表示用光学デバイスと、
前記表示用光学デバイスの前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に動画像信号に応じた電圧を印加して、前記光学特性変化層の光学特性を前記動画像信号に応じて変化させる駆動部と、
前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に印加する電圧の極性を、前記動画像信号の画面周期のn(nは1以上の整数)倍の周期で反転させる反転制御部とを備え、
前記反転制御部は、所定の位相変更周期を変動させながら、前記極性を反転する制御信号の位相を該位相変更周期毎に180度変化させる表示装置。 - 前記位相変更周期を、周期的に変動させる請求項5記載の表示装置。
- 前記光学特性変化層は、液晶である請求項5記載の表示装置。
- 前記表示用光学デバイスは、画素電極が形成されたシリコン基板と、前記シリコン基板上に設けられた液晶と、前記液晶を挟んで対向する位置に設けられた透明材料からなる対向電極とを有する反射型液晶表示素子である請求項5記載の表示装置。
- 入力された動画像信号をフレーム補間して、入力された動画像信号より画面周期を短くした動画像信号を生成する補間部をさらに備え、
上記駆動部は、画面周期を短くした動画像信号に応じて、前記光学特性変化層の光学特性を変化させ、
上記反転制御部は、前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に印加する電圧の極性を、画面周期を短くした動画像信号の画面周期のn(nは1以上の整数)倍の周期で反転させる請求項5記載の表示装置。 - 電界の強度に応じて光学特性が変化する光学特性変化層と、前記光学特性変化層を挟んで互いに対向する位置に設けられた画素電極及び対向電極とを有する表示用光学デバイスを駆動する駆動方法において、
前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に動画像信号に応じた電圧を印加して、前記光学特性変化層の光学特性を前記動画像信号に応じて変化させることにより、表示用光学デバイスを駆動し、
前記画素電極と前記対向電極と間に印加する電圧の極性を前記動画像信号の画面周期のn(nは1以上の整数)倍の周期で反転させるとともに、所定の位相変更周期を変動させながら、前記極性を反転する制御信号の位相を該位相変更周期毎に180度変化させる駆動方法。 - 前記位相変更周期を、周期的に変動させる請求項10記載の駆動方法。
- 前記表示用光学デバイスの光学特性変化層は、液晶である請求項10記載の駆動方法。
- 前記表示用光学デバイスは、画素電極が形成されたシリコン基板と、前記シリコン基板上に設けられた液晶と、前記液晶を挟んで対向する位置に設けられた透明材料からなる対向電極とを有する反射型液晶表示素子である請求項10記載の駆動方法。
