Description
質や、カーボンブラック、グラファイト、黒鉛のような導電助剤などを含む混合粉末を円板状に加圧成形することによって作製され、これにアルカリ電解液の一部を含浸させてなる正極であり、2はこの正極1と負極3との間に介在するセパレータであって、このセパレータ2は、例えば親水処理された微孔性ポリプロピレンフィルムとセロファンフィルムとビニロン−レーヨン混抄紙のような吸液層とを積み重ねたものである。負極3は無水銀の亜鉛または無水銀の亜鉛合金からなる負極活物質(例えば、粉末状のもの)を含み、これにアルカリ電解液の大半量を注入して形成される。
性を満足させるニッケル層5bを設け、内面側、すなわち負極3と接する面に銅層5cを設けたものである。そして、この封口体5は、通常、ステンレス鋼板5a、ニッケル層5bおよび銅層5cからなるクラッド板を絞り加工することによって周辺折り返し部5Zを有する形状に作製されたものである。そして、上記封口体5の銅層5cの負極3と接する面に、亜鉛層とインジウム、ビスマスおよびスズのうち少なくとも1種を含む偏析相とを有する金属層7が形成されている。なお、この金属層7は、図面上での視認を容易にするために、厚く図示されているが、実際には、封口体5の厚みに比べてもっと薄いものである。
キング材(例えば、アスファルトピッチ、脂肪族ポリアミド、フッ素系オイルなど)を介
して環状ガスケット6を圧接させることも好ましく、さらに封口体5の、環状ガスケ
ット6を圧接させる面には、ベンゾトリアゾールなど、トリアゾール系化合物のN−アミノメチル誘導体からなる被膜を形成しておくことも好ましい。この被膜は、トリアゾール系化合物の銅に対する強い活性により銅層5cの表面に化学的に強固かつ緻密に結合し、銅層5cの表面の電気化学的なクリープ現象に基づくアルカリ電解液の漏出を強力に防止する。そして、図示していないが、上記被膜と環状ガスケット6との間には液状パッキング材が介在していて、該液状パッキング材が上記被膜と環状ガスケット6との間からアルカリ電解液の漏出が生じるのを防止している。
<電解液の調製>
340gの水に、水酸化ナトリウム〔純度96%(質量%、純度に関しては、以下同様)〕:550g、酸化亜鉛(純度99%):100g、および水酸化インジウム:10gを投入し、撹拌速度:1500rpmで20分撹拌した後、追加の水:1010gを加えてさらに20分撹拌した。この混合液を室温で3日間静置し、上澄み液を採取することにより溶け残った水酸化インジウムを除去し、採取した上澄み液をアルカリ電解液として用いた。
<ボタン形アルカリ電池の作製>
ニッケル層−ステンレス鋼(SUS−304)板−銅層からなるクラッド板をプレス機
で打ち抜き、図1に示すように、周辺折り返し部を有する形状に加工して、封口体を作製した。
水酸化カリウム(純度85%):850g、酸化亜鉛(純度99%):110g、および水酸化インジウム:10gを、525gの水に加え、20分間撹拌(撹拌速度:1500rpm)した後、追加の水:525gを加えてさらに20分間撹拌(撹拌速度:1500rpm)した。この混合液を室温で3日間静値し、上澄み液を採取することにより溶け残った水酸化インジウムを除去し、インジウムを284ppm含有するアルカリ電解液を調製した。以下、このアルカリ電解液を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
水酸化ナトリウム(純度96%):550g、酸化亜鉛(純度99%):100gを900gの水に加えて20分間撹拌(撹拌速度:1500rpm)した。次に、水酸化インジウム:10gを加えて、上記溶液を20分間撹拌(撹拌速度:1500rpm)した後、追加の水:450gを加えてさらに20分間撹拌(撹拌速度:1500rpm)した。この混合液を室温で3日間静値し、上澄み液を採取することにより溶け残った水酸化インジウムを除去し、インジウムを104ppm含有するアルカリ電解液を調製した。以下、このアルカリ電解液を用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極活物質100質量部に対し、水酸化インジウムを1質量部混合した以外は、実施例3と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極活物質100質量部に対し、水酸化インジウムおよび水酸化ビスマスをそれぞれ1質量部ずつ混合し、インジウム濃度が69ppmのアルカリ電解液を用いた以外は、実施例2と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極活物質100質量部に対し、水酸化インジウムおよび水酸化ビスマスをそれぞれ0.1質量部ずつ混合した以外は、実施例5と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
インジウムを35ppm、ビスマスを400ppm含有するアルカリ電解液を用いた以外は、実施例5と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極活物質100重量部に対し、酸化スズ(SnO2)を1重量部混合し、スズを150ppm含有するアルカリ電解液を用いた以外は、実施例5と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極および電解液への添加剤の添加を行わなかった以外は、実施例2と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
負極活物質として、水銀を3重量%含有する亜鉛粉末を用いた以外は、比較例1と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
封口体の内面の銅層の上にインジウムメッキ層を形成した以外は、比較例1と同様にしてボタン形アルカリ電池を作製した。
インジウム、ビスマスおよびスズの測定値を単位面積あたりに換算した値、および亜鉛との総量中における各元素の含有量を求めた結果を表2に示す。

Claims (15)
- 無水銀の亜鉛または亜鉛合金を活物質とする負極が、負極封口体の内面に接するボタン形アルカリ電池であって、
前記封口体の内面に、亜鉛層と、インジウム、ビスマスおよびスズのうち少なくとも1種を含み且つ分散して存在している偏析相とを有する金属層が形成されており、
前記金属層に存在するインジウム、ビスマスおよびスズより選ばれるいずれかの元素の量が、前記金属層の亜鉛との総量中0.1質量%以上であることを特徴とするボタン形アルカリ電池。 - 上記金属層表面での偏析相の大きさが、100μm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記金属層の厚さが、10μm以下である請求項1または2に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記封口体の内面に銅層または銅合金層を有し、上記金属層が、前記銅層または銅合金層上に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記インジウム、ビスマスまたはスズの量が、単位面積あたり0.001mg/cm2 以上であることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記インジウム、ビスマスまたはスズの量が、上記金属層の亜鉛との総量中30質量%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記インジウム、ビスマスまたはスズの量が、上記金属層の亜鉛との総量中0.1〜10質量%であることを特徴とする請求項6に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記負極の活物質が、少なくともインジウムを含有する亜鉛合金である請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記亜鉛合金が、ビスマス、アルミニウムおよびカルシウムのうち少なくとも1種をさらに含有することを特徴とする請求項8に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記亜鉛合金中のインジウムの含有量が、100〜800ppmであることを特徴とする請求項8または9に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記亜鉛合金の粒度が、25〜300メッシュであることを特徴とする請求項8〜10のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記負極に、少なくともインジウム化合物、ビスマス化合物およびスズ化合物のうち少なくとも1種が添加されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記インジウム、ビスマスまたはスズの量が、単位面積あたり0.125mg/cm 2 以下であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記偏析相がインジウムの偏析相であることを特徴とする請求項1〜13のいずれかに記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
- 上記金属層に存在するインジウムの量が、上記金属層の亜鉛との総量中5質量%以下であることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のボタン形アルカリ電池。
