Abstract

本発明は、流体試料中の分析物(例えば、血中グルコース)をモニタリングし、デバイスのユーザに視覚及び/または聴覚フィードバックを提供するためのデバイス及び方法に関する。
一般的に、本明細書に記載の分析物測定デバイスは、流体試料中の1つ以上の分析物の濃度が測定される分析物測定動作の1つ以上のステップを行うように構成される。例えば、分析物測定デバイスは、以下の動作のうちの1つ以上を行うように構成されてもよい:試料採取部位から流体試料を採取する、流体試料を分析場所に輸送する、及び流体試料を分析する。分析物測定デバイスが試料採取部位から流体試料を採取するように構成される場合、デバイスは、任意の好適な試料採取部位から流体試料を採取するように構成されてもよい。好適な試料採取部位の例として、1つ以上の身体部位(例えば、手指、足指、他の皮膚表面等)または1つ以上の人工容器(例えば、対照溶液または身体流体試料を保持するバイアル)が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。流体試料は、例えば、1つ以上の溶液(例えば、対照溶液)、混合物、体液(例えば、血液、唾液等)、それらの組み合わせ等の任意の好適な流体を含んでもよい。流体試料の分析は、1つ以上のホルモン、タンパク質、酵素、毒素、薬物、他の分子等の試料中の1つ以上の分析物の濃度を決定することを含んでもよい。いくつかの変形例において、本明細書に記載の分析物測定デバイスは、1つ以上の血液試料または他のグルコース含有溶液のグルコース濃度を測定するように構成されてもよい。
典型的には、分析物モニタ(グルコースモニタ等)は、ユーザに(例えば、表示部を介して)視覚的に情報を伝達する。例えば、分析物モニタは、試料中の分析物の濃度(例えば、グルコース読取値)を視覚的に表示してもよいか、または分析物測定動作に付随する1つ以上の行為(例えば、検査ストリップまたは他の検査媒体を挿入する、検査媒体に試料を適用する、分析を待つ)を行うようユーザに指示するプロンプトを視覚的に表示してもよい。この種の視覚伝達は、通常、表示部に出現する単純なテキストから構成される。本明細書に記載の分析物測定デバイスは、カスタマイズされた様式で、ユーザに(例えば、図3Aに示すデバイス(300)の表示部(318)またはスピーカー(302)を介して)視覚的に、かつ/または聴覚的に情報を提供するように構成されてもよい。一般的に、聴覚的プロンプトは、視覚障害のあるユーザが、別のユーザからの助けを必要とすることなく、(例えば、分析物の分析を終了するために)デバイスを用いた行為を行うことを可能にし得るため、情報を聴覚的に提示することは、視覚症状を伴うユーザによる分析物測定デバイスの使用を促進するかまたは別様に容易にし得る。さらに、カスタマイズされた様式で(視覚的に、聴覚的に、または別様に)情報を提示することは、後により詳細に記載されるように、より快適なユーザエクスペリエンスを提供することができ、したがって、ユーザコンプライアンス(例えば、ユーザが指示通りに検査を行うかどうか)を高め得る。

前述のように、分析物測定デバイスは、ユーザの取った行動(例えば、検査シーケンスを開始する)に応じてまたは計画(例えば、毎日特定の時間に検査を行うためのリマインダー)に基づいて聴覚的プロンプトを出力することができる。聴覚的プロンプトはまた、1つ以上のオプションの設定または変更(例えば、デバイスの時計を設定する、アラームもしくはリマインダーを設定する、真空ポンプを制御する、またはバックライトを表示する)を通してユーザを誘導するように、オンスクリーンメニュー及びオプションを読み取るために使用されてもよい。下の表1は、本明細書に記載の分析物測定デバイスによって出力され得る聴覚的プロンプトの複数の例を提供する。
また前述のように、分析物測定デバイスは、ユーザの取った行動(例えば、検査シーケンスを開始する)に応じてまたは計画(例えば、毎日特定の時間に検査するためのリマインダー)に基づいて視覚的プロンプトを出力することができる。視覚的プロンプトはまた、(聴覚的プロンプトに関して表1で上述されるように)検査シーケンスを通してユーザを誘導するように使用されてもよい。検査シーケンスを通してユーザを誘導する視覚的プロンプトは、検査シーケンスのステップの任意の視覚的表現を含んでもよい。例えば、単純なテキストが表示部に出現してユーザが何をするべきかを説明してもよいか、またはステップのグラフィック表現(例えば、ユーザが検査ポートに指を当てるべき時には、検査ポートに指を当てているグラフィック)が出現してもよい。
