従来の液晶表示装置において、偏光子の構成は、熱硬化型アクリル系感圧接着剤(thermal cured acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive)/トリアセテートセルロース(triacetate cellulose)(TAC)/ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)ハイドロゲル/ヨウ素含浸PVAフィルム(PVA偏光子)/PVAハイドロゲル/TACを含む。例えば、米国特許第6,074,729号は、液晶表示装置に使用される感圧接着シート(pressure sensitive adhesive sheet)と、感圧接着層(pressure sensitive adhesive layer)とを開示する。前記感圧接着シートは、液晶表示装置に使用される位相差シート(phase difference sheet)若しくは光偏光シート(light polarizing sheet)を形成する基材層を含むものであり、前記感圧接着層は、液晶表示装置の液晶セル上に前記基材層を固着(sticking)させるものである。偏光子の全体の厚みは、約150〜200マイクロメートル(μm)であり、偏光子の製造工程は、複雑であり、低収率である。
本開示は、従来の偏光子のPVAハイドロゲルおよびTACフィルムをハードコート組成物に置き換えた偏光子および表示装置に関するものである。
本開示の実施形態において、熱硬化されているハードコート組成物(thermally cured hardcoat composition)から形成されているハードコート層(hardcoat layer)は、結合剤(binders)または接着剤(adhesives)を少しも必要とせず、TAC保護フィルムを必要とせずに、ヨウ素含浸ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)フィルム(iodine-impregnated polyvinyl alcohol film)の少なくとも一方の面の上に直接形成可能である。その結果、製造工程を簡素化でき、コストを削減でき、偏光子の全体の厚みを顕著に減少させることができる。本開示の実施形態の詳細は、以下に示すとおりである。なお、本実施形態は説明のためのものに過ぎず、本開示は本実施形態に限定されるものではない。当業者であれば、当該実施形態の応用に対応する修正および変更が可能である。
最初に、240.37gのプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル(propyleneglycol monomethylether)(PM)を四ツ口反応フラスコに加える。その後、四ツ口反応フラスコを窒素ガスにて充填し、フラスコの温度を90℃に昇温する。
Claims (15)
- 水酸基を有し、重量平均分子量が15,000以上であり、ガラス転移温度が25℃を超えるアクリル共重合体と、
多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーと、
光開始剤と、
熱硬化剤とを含むことを特徴とするハードコート組成物。 - 前記アクリル共重合体100重量部に対して、前記多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーを30〜150重量部含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーは、ジペンタエリスリトールヘキサアクリレート、トリプロピレングリコールジアクリレート、ペンタエリスリトールテトラアクリレート、トリス(2−ヒドロキシエチル)イソシアヌレートトリアクリレート、エトキシ化ビスフェノールAジアクリレート、イソボルニルアクリレート、脂肪族ウレタンアクリレート、エポキシアクリレート、または、これらの組み合わせであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記アクリル共重合体100重量部に対して、前記光開始剤を0.5〜20重量部含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記アクリル共重合体100重量部に対して、前記熱硬化剤を0.1〜60重量部含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 60〜110℃の温度で熱硬化して6日間熟成させた後のゲル分率が0.5〜75%であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記アクリル共重合体は、親油性のアクリルモノマー若しくはビニル芳香族モノマーと、0.6〜20重量%のヒドロキシルアクリルモノマーとを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記親油性のアクリルモノマーは、メチルアクリレート、エチルアクリレート、ブチルアクリレート、ドデシルアクリレート、メチルメタクリレート、ブチルメタクリレート、シクロへキシルメタクリレート、2−エチルへキシルアクリレート、イソボルニルアクリレート、またはこれらの組み合わせであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載のハードコート組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシルアクリルモノマーは、2−ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート、2−ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート、4−ヒドロキシブチルアクリレート、またはこれらの組み合わせであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載のハードコート組成物。
- ヨウ素含浸ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)フィルムと、前記ヨウ素含浸PVAフィルムの少なくとも一方の面上に直接形成され且つハードコート組成物から作製されるハードコード層とを備え、
前記ハードコート組成物が、
水酸基を有し、重量平均分子量が15,000以上であり、ガラス転移温度が25℃を超えるアクリル共重合体と、
多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーと、
光開始剤と、
熱硬化剤とを備えたことを特徴とする偏光子。 - 前記ハードコート組成物は、前記アクリル共重合体100重量部に対して、前記多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーを30〜150重量部含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の偏光子。
- 前記多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーは、ジペンタエリスリトールヘキサアクリレート、トリプロピレングリコールジアクリレート、ペンタエリスリトールテトラアクリレート、トリス(2−ヒドロキシエチル)イソシアヌレートトリアクリレート、エトキシ化ビスフェノールAジアクリレート、イソボルニルアクリレート、脂肪族ウレタンアクリレート、エポキシアクリレート、または、これらの組み合わせであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の偏光子。
- 前記ハードコート組成物は、前記アクリル共重合体100重量部に対して、前記熱硬化剤を0.1〜60重量部含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の偏光子。
- 前記ハードコート組成物は、70〜110℃の温度で熱硬化して6日間室温で熟成させた後のゲル分率が0.5〜75%であることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の偏光子。
- 薄型偏光子を備えた表示装置であって、
前記薄型偏光子が、
ヨウ素含浸ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)フィルムと、
前記ヨウ素含浸PVAフィルムの少なくとも一方の面上に直接形成され且つハードコート組成物から作製されるハードコード層とを備え、
前記ハードコート組成物が、
水酸基を有し、重量平均分子量が15,000以上であり、ガラス転移温度が25℃を超えるアクリル共重合体と、
多官能不飽和フォトモノマーまたは多官能不飽和オリゴマーと、
光開始剤と、
熱硬化剤とを備えたことを特徴とする表示装置。
