Abstract
【解決手段】表示領域におけるTFT基板100と対向基板200の間隔は、柱状スペーサ205によって規定され、シール部においてもTFT基板100と対向基板200の間隔は柱状スペーサ205によって規定される。表示領域内においては、柱状スペーサの下には、カラーフィルタが1層形成されており、シール部においては、島状のカラーフィルタが2層形成されている(201G、201B)。これによって、表示領域とシール部とで、TFT基板100と対向基板200の間隔を同等に保つことが出来る。また、柱状スペーサ205の形成のプロセスが変動しても、表示領域とシール部におけるTFT基板と対向基板との間隔の差が変動することを無くすことが出来る。

Claims (7)
- TFTおよび画素電極を有する画素がマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有するTFT基板と、3色のカラーフィルタがマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有する対向基板とを有し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板が周辺のシール部においてシール材によって接着し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板との間に液晶が封入された液晶表示装置であって、
前記表示領域においては、前記対向基板に形成された第1の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第1の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちのひとつのカラーフィルタが存在し、
前記シール部においては、前記対向基板に形成された第2の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第2の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちの第1のカラーフィルタが島状に形成され、前記第1のカラーフィルタの上に第2のカラーフィルタが積層されて島状に形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記表示領域における前記第1の柱状スペーサと前記カラーフィルタの間にはオーバーコート膜が存在し、前記シール部における前記第2の柱状スペーサと前記第2のカラーフィルタの間には、オーバーコート膜が存在していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のカラーフィルタは緑カラーフィルタであり、前記第2のカラーフィルタは青カラーフィルタであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- TFTおよび画素電極を有する画素がマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有するTFT基板と、3色のカラーフィルタがマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有する対向基板とを有し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板が周辺のシール部においてシール材によって接着し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板との間に液晶が封入された液晶表示装置であって、
前記表示領域においては、前記対向基板に形成された第1の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第1の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちのひとつのカラーフィルタが存在し、
前記シール部においては、前記対向基板に形成された第2の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第2の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちの第1のカラーフィルタが島状に形成され、前記第1のカラーフィルタの上には第2のカラーフィルタが積層されて島状に形成され、前記第2のカラーフィルタの上には第3のカラーフィルタが積層されて島状に形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記表示領域における前記第1の柱状スペーサと前記カラーフィルタの間にはオーバーコート膜が存在し、前記シール部における前記第2の柱状スペーサと前記第3のカラーフィルタの間には、オーバーコート膜が存在していることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1のカラーフィルタは赤カラーフィルタであり、前記第2のカラーフィルタは緑カラーフィルタであり、前記第3のカラーフィルタは青カラーフィルタであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置。
- TFTおよび画素電極を有する画素がマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有するTFT基板と、3色のカラーフィルタがマトリクス状に形成された表示領域を有する対向基板とを有し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板が周辺のシール部においてシール材によって接着し、前記TFT基板と前記対向基板との間に液晶が封入された液晶表示装置であって、
前記表示領域においては、前記対向基板に形成された第1の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第1の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちのひとつのカラーフィルタが存在し、
前記シール部においては、前記対向基板に形成された第2の柱状スペーサによって前記対向基板と前記TFT基板の間隔が規定され、前記第2の柱状スペーサの下には前記3色のカラーフィルタのうちの第1のカラーフィルタが島状に形成され、前記第1のカラーフィルタの上に第2のカラーフィルタが積層されて島状に形成され、
前記シール部においては、前記対向基板に形成された堰が前記表示領域を囲むように形成されており、前記堰の下には、カラーフィルタが存在していないことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
