Abstract
Mn捕捉剤は、マンガン系陽極活物質から電解液に溶出されたマンガンイオンが優先的に陰極活物質粒子の表面に被覆されたMn捕捉剤上に析出されるように誘導することで、マンガンイオンが陰極活物質の表面に直接析出されることを抑制すると共に、析出されたマンガン成分と電解液との分解反応を抑制し、これによって、電池の保存性能に優れたマンガン系リチウム二次電池を提供することができる。
Description
平均粒度が10μmのハードカーボン粉末と平均粒度が50nmのアナターゼタイプのTiO2とを97:3の重量比でメカノフュージョン装置に投入し、約250rpmで10分間プレミックスした後、約1000rpmで30分間混合してハードカーボンの表面をTiO2で被覆した。このように被覆されたハードカーボン粉末を約400℃で熱処理して炭素系陰極活物質を製造した。測定の結果、被膜の厚さは、約100nmであった。
TiO2を使用しないことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして陰極活物質、陰極、陽極、バイセル電池を製作した。
TiO2の代わりにZrO3を3重量%使用したことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして陰極活物質、陰極、陽極、バイセル電池を製作した。
TiO2の代わりにMgOを3重量%使用したことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして陰極活物質、陰極、陽極、バイセル電池を製作した。
TiO2の代わりにAl2O3を3重量%使用したことを除いては、実施例1と同様にして陰極活物質、陰極、陽極、バイセル電池を製作した。
実施例1および比較例1で製作された各電池を1mAで4.2Vまで充電し、電流1mA、終結電圧2.5Vで放電した。次いで、50%充電状態で各電池の陰極表面全体におけるマンガン濃度の平均値をICP放出分光器を用いて測定した。次いで、各電池を50%充電状態で55℃で10日間保存した後、50%充電状態で電池を分解して陰極のみを分離し、ICP放出分光器を用いて陰極表面全体におけるマンガン濃度の平均値を測定した。陰極表面上のMn濃度増加率を下記の表1に記載した。
実施例1、比較例1〜4で製造された各電池を1mAで4.2Vまで充電し、電流1mA、終結電圧2.5Vで放電した。このような初期充放電の後は、電流10mAおよび上限電圧4.2Vで充電し、2.5Vの終結電圧で放電するという充放電サイクルを3回繰り返して3サイクルの容量を測定した。その後、50%充電状態で出力を測定し、50%充電状態で65℃の温度でそれぞれ1週間および2週間保存した後、3サイクルの容量を測定し、容量対比50%の充電状態で出力を測定した。高温保存後の出力減少率を表2に示した。次に、実施例1のバイセルを分解して陰極の表面をDMC溶液で洗浄した後、SEMでEDSを測定した。
Claims (11)
- マンガン系リチウム二次電池であって、
マンガン系リチウム金属酸化物を含有する陽極と、陰極と、及び電解質を備えてなるものであり、
前記陰極が、陰極活物質を含んでなり、導電性または半導性の特性によって表面上でマンガンイオンを還元させることができるMn捕捉剤が陰極活物質粒子の一部または全部に被覆されることを特徴とする、マンガン系リチウム二次電池。 - Mn捕捉剤が、陰極活物質の全重量の0.1〜20重量%の範囲で含まれてなることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記Mn捕捉剤が、電子伝導性チタン系化合物であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記Mn捕捉剤が、TiO2およびTiS2からなる群から選択されるものであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記Mn捕捉剤が、TiO2であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記陰極活物質が、炭素系のものであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記炭素系陰極活物質が、グラファイト系炭素、コークス系炭素およびハードカーボンからなる群から選択される1つまたは2つ以上の炭素粒子であることを特徴とする、請求項6に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 前記陽極が、マンガンスピネル系陽極活物質を30重量%以上含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 電気自動車の動力源として使用されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のマンガン系リチウム二次電池。
- 導電性または半導性の特性によって表面上でマンガンイオンを還元させることができるMn捕捉剤が、陰極活物質粒子の一部または全部に被覆されることを特徴とする、陰極活物質。
- 導電性または半導性の特性によって表面上でマンガンイオンを還元させることができるMn捕捉剤が、陰極活物質粒子の一部または全部に被覆された陰極活物質を含んでなることを特徴とする、陰極。
