Abstract
Description
I(110)/[I(110)+I(002)] (式3)
を用いて、配向の程度は説明される。式中、I(110)およびI(002)は、六角形のコージエライト結晶構造に基づいて、(110)および(002)結晶面からのそれぞれのX線反射のピーク高さである。これらの反射は、それぞれ、約4.9Åと4.68Åとのd間隔に対応している。I比は、銅Kα放射線を用いて測定される。
M=I(004)/{I(004)+2I(020) } (式4)
を用いて、タルクの板状特性をXRDピーク強度に半定量的に関係付ける。式中、I(004)は、(004)ピークの強度であり、I(020)は(020)反射の強度であり、(111−)および(110)ピークと部分的に重なる。タルク粒子の平板度の他の尺度は、セディグラフ(Sedigraph)粒子分析器による等、沈降により測定されるメジアン粒度で除算したレーザー回折により測定されたメジアン粒度の比率である。この比率は、球状粒子については約1.0であり、粒子の平板度の増加につれて増大する。本発明において、タルク源の粒子についてのこの比率は、好ましくは2.5以下、ある実施形態においては、2.0以下である。
d50(Al2O3−形成源)={(WAl−1)(d50,Al−1)+(WAl−2)(d50,Al−2)+…+(WAl−n)(d50,Al−m)}/{(WAl−1)+(WAl−2)+…+(WAl−1n)}
で定義され、式中、Wは、原材料混合物中の各アルミナ形成源の重量パーセンテージであり、d50は、各アルミナ形成源のメジアン粒度であり、Al−1、Al−2、…、Al−nは、混合物で用いる各アルミナ形成源である。個々のアルミナ形成源のいずれも、メジアン粒度が2μmを超えないのが好ましい。
Claims (11)
- 25℃〜800℃の温度範囲にわたって、少なくとも1つの方向において、<1.5×10−7/℃の熱膨張率、
≧28%の全気孔率P、
<0.92の横方向I比、IT、および
セラミックの全細孔容積の≧60%が、孔径0.5μm〜5.0μmの気孔を含むような気孔径分布
を示すコージエライトの相を備えたセラミックを含むことを特徴とするセラミックハニカム物品。 - 2.0μm〜4.0μmの範囲の平均気孔径d50をさらに有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- 前記横方向I比、IT、が≦0.90であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- 前記横方向I比、IT、が≦0.87であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- 前記熱膨張率が、25℃〜800℃の温度範囲にわたって、≦1.0×10−7/℃であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- 前記熱膨張率が、25℃〜800℃の温度範囲にわたって、≦0.8×10−7/℃であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- Pが≧30%であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- 30%≦P≦36%であることを特徴とする請求項7に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。
- さらに、
CTE≦1.0×10−7/℃および
P≧30%
であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカム物品。 - 25℃〜800℃の温度範囲にわたって、少なくとも1つの方向において、<1.0×10−7/℃の熱膨張率および
全気孔率Pが28%≦P≦33%
を示すコージエライトの相を備えたセラミックを含むであることを特徴とするセラミックハニカム物品。 - 焼結相コージエライト組成物を有するセラミックハニカム物品を製造する方法であって、
平均粒度が少なくとも8μmで、形態指数が少なくとも0.30かつ0.85以下である少なくとも1つのタルク源、
加重平均メジアン粒度が5μmを超えない、1つ以上のアルミナ形成源、および
少なくとも1つの生カオリン、および任意で、少なくとも1つのか焼カオリンを含み、前記カオリン+か焼カオリン混合物の加重平均メジアン粒度が6μmを超えない、少なくとも20重量パーセントのアルミノ−シリケート源
を含有する無機粉末バッチ組成物と、
バインダー系と
を有する可塑化コージエライト前駆体バッチ組成物を提供する工程と、
前記可塑化コージエライト前駆体バッチ組成物から押出し素地を形成する工程と、
前記素地を、焼結相コージエライト組成物を含むセラミック物品へと転化するのに有効な条件下で、素地を焼成する工程と
を含み、
前記焼結相コージエライト組成物が、
25℃〜800℃の温度範囲にわたって、少なくとも1つの方向において、<1.5×10−7/℃の熱膨張率CTE、および
≧28%の全気孔率P
を示すことを特徴とする方法。
