Abstract
【解決手段】維持電極を接地電圧にバイアスした状態で,走査電極に駆動波形を印加して,リセット動作,アドレス動作及び維持放電動作を行う。これにより,維持電極を駆動する駆動ボードを省略できる。維持電極が接地電圧にバイアスされれば,リセット期間に走査電極に低い電圧が印加されるので,走査電極の壁電荷による電位がアドレス電極の壁電荷による電位より高くなる。この場合,リセット期間に上昇波形が印加されるとアドレス電極と走査電極との間に強放電が起こることがあるので,アドレス電極を一定の電圧にバイアスし,複数の走査電極を複数のグループに分けて,各グループ別にアドレス期間に走査電極に異なる電圧の走査パルスを印可する。これにより,アドレス期間に安定したアドレス放電を起こすことができる。

Claims (16)
- 複数の第1電極と,複数の第2電極と,前記第1電極及び第2電極に交差する方向に形成される複数の第3電極とを備えたプラズマ表示パネルを,1フレームを複数のサブフィールドに分けて駆動させる方法において:
前記複数の第1電極を第1グループ及び第2グループを含む複数のグループに分けて,リセット期間,アドレス期間,及び維持期間に前記第2電極を第1電圧にバイアスした状態で,
前記アドレス期間に,
前記第1グループに属する複数の第1電極に選択的に第2電圧を印加する段階と;
前記第2グループに属する複数の第1電極に選択的に前記第2電圧より低い第3電圧を印加する段階と;
を含むことを特徴とする,プラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記リセット期間に,
前記第1電極の電圧を第4電圧から第5電圧まで漸進的に増加させる段階と;
前記第1電極の電圧を第6電圧から第7電圧まで漸進的に減少させる段階と;
を含み,
前記第1電極の電圧が前記第5電圧まで増加する間のうちの少なくとも一部の期間で前記第3電極の電圧を正の電圧の状態にすることを特徴とする,請求項1に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第1電圧は接地電圧であることを特徴とする,請求項1または2に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第2電圧及び第3電圧は,前記第7電圧より低い電圧であることを特徴とする,請求項2に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記維持期間に,
前記第1電極に,前記第1電圧より高い第8電圧と,前記第1電圧より低い第9電圧を交互に印加する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする,請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第1グループ及び前記第2グループのうちのいずれか一方のグループは,奇数番目の前記第1電極を含み,他方のグループは,偶数番目の前記第1電極を含むことを特徴とする,請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1グループ及び前記第2グループのうちのいずれか一方のグループは,前記プラズマ表示パネルの上部に配置された前記第1電極を含み,他方のグループは,前記プラズマ表示パネルの下部に配置された前記第1電極を含むことを特徴とする,請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第2電圧または前記第3電圧が印加される前記第1電極によって形成される複数の放電セルのうち,点灯される放電セルの第3電極に,第10電圧を印加する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする,請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第2電圧が印加されない前記第1グループの第1電極に印加される電圧が,前記第3電圧が印加されない前記第2グループの第1電極に印加される電圧より高いことを特徴とする,請求項1〜8のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 複数の第1電極と,複数の第2電極と,前記第1電極及び第2電極に交差する方向に形成される複数の第3電極とを備えたプラズマ表示パネルを,1フレームを複数のサブフィールドに分けて駆動させる方法において:
前記複数のサブフィールドのうちの少なくとも一つのサブフィールドは,全ての放電セルを初期化するメインリセット期間を有し,前記複数のサブフィールドのうちの少なくとも一つのサブフィールドは,直前のサブフィールドで維持放電が起こった放電セルを初期化する補助リセット期間を有しており,
リセット期間,アドレス期間,及び維持期間に前記第2電極を第1電圧にバイアスした状態で,
前記アドレス期間に,前記複数の第1電極に選択的に第2電圧を印加する段階を含み,
前記メインリセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第2電圧が,前記補助リセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第2電圧より高いことを特徴とする,プラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記リセット期間に,
前記第1電極の電圧を第6電圧から第7電圧まで漸進的に減少させる段階を含み,
前記メインリセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第2電圧と前記第7電圧との差が,前記補助リセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第2電圧と前記第7電圧との差より小さいことを特徴とする,請求項10に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記メインリセット期間に,
前記第1電極の電圧を第4電圧から第5電圧まで漸進的に増加させる段階をさらに含み,
前記第1電極の電圧が前記第5電圧まで増加する間のうちの少なくとも一部の期間で前記第3電極の電圧を正の電圧の状態にすることを特徴とする,請求項10または11に記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第1電圧は接地電圧であることを特徴とする,請求項10〜12のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第2電圧が印加されない前記第1電極に第11電圧を印加する段階をさらに含み,
前記メインリセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第11電圧が,前記補助リセット期間を有するサブフィールドでの前記第11電圧より高いことを特徴とする,請求項10〜13のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第2電圧が印加される前記第1電極によって形成される複数の放電セルのうち,点灯される放電セルの前記第3電極に,第10電圧を印加する段階をさらに含むことを特徴とする,請求項10〜15のいずれかに記載のプラズマ表示パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記維持期間に,
