図25A〜Cは、一対のコネクタ40、60が取付けられた一対の回路基板30、31を示す。この二個のコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するために互いに嵌合可能である。これらの二つのコネクタ40及び60の一方は、レセプタクル40と考えられ、すなわち、相補的な嵌合雄型プラグ部60を収容する雌型部である。この二つのコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するように互いに嵌合可能である。周知のように、二枚の回路基板はそれぞれ、電気部品を支持し、その例として、マイクロプロセッサとメモリ装置が挙げられ、アナログ回路も含むがこれらに限定されない。回路基板上の電気部品は、コネクタ部40及び60内の導体に電気的に結合されている。
本発明の一つの主な形態によれば、コネクタ40又は60の回路基板30又は31と接続する面に介在接地構造が設けられる。ドッキング型のコネクタのそのような介在接地構造は、図12A及び31Bで最も良く分かる。横断方向に延在する複数の壁51が、下側ハウジング48を、チャネル58a、58b(図12)等の複数のチャネルに分割し、図31Bで分かるように、このチャネル内に差動信号対99が差込まれる。図12及び12Aで分かるように、一つおきの横断壁51に、接地端子組立体84を収容するスロット83が設けられている。このような導電性接地端子84を図27に更に詳しく示す。接地端子84は、下側ハウジング48の全体を回路基板30、31の接地回路に接続する働きをする。そのような接地端子184の構造を図27に示し、各端子184は、ハウジング保持部186と終端部187とを有する。そのような各端子のハウジング保持部186は、一対の平坦(たん)なヘッド188を有することが好ましく、該ヘッド188は、その片面に突出部188Aが形成されるように凹まされるか又は窪(くぼ)まされており、接地端子を収容するスロット83との散り嵌(ば)めを提供する。終端部187は、当技術分野で知られているように、テール部の変形可能な側壁によって囲まれた中央穴187Aを有する「針穴(eye of needle )」の種類の可撓性ピンとして示された一以上のテール部189を有する。

- 前記第1及び第2の係合面は互いに対向して配置され、前記ハウジングの第1及び第2の係合面の各々に少なくとも一個の凹部が形成され、該凹部の各々が前記接地端子の一つを収容する、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記第1及び第2の係合面は前記コネクタハウジング内において互いに隣接して配置されている、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記第1及び第2の係合面は、対応する交差方向に延在するように前記ハウジング上に設けられ、前記ハウジングの開口は、前記第1及び第2の係合面の間のL字状経路に沿って延在している、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記フレームは、該フレーム内に形成されるとともに前記端子組立体の両側に配置された少なくとも二個の穴を含み、この穴の各々は、前記端子の一方の前記本体部を空気に露出させ、前記穴は、前記端子本体部と前記ハウジング開口のめっきされた表面との間に誘電性空隙を画定する、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記コネクタハウジングのすべての外側表面の上に前記導電性材料のめっきが施されている、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記コネクタハウジングのすべての外側表面の上に導電性めっきが施され、前記第2の係合面には複数の凹部が形成され、各凹部は接地端子を収容し、該接地端子は、前記差動信号端子対のテール部を、該テール部の個別のグループに分離するように前記第2の係合面上に配置されている、請求項2に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記コネクタハウジングの第1の係合面は、前記コネクタハウジングと一体に形成され、前記端子接触部と平行に延在する少なくとも二つの接地部材を含む、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記ハウジングは二個のハウジング半体から作られている、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記ハウジングは第1及び第2のハウジング半体を含み、各ハウジング半体は、協働して前記開口を画定する開口半体を含み、第1のハウジング半体の開口半体は、第2のハウジング半体の開口半体に対して角度を成して延在している、請求項2に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 各差動信号端子対の前記端子が互いに平行に延在している、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記ハウジング半体の両方と係合して、それらを単一のコネクタとして保持する保持部材を更に含む、請求項11に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記保持部材は、相互に交差する方向に延在する第1及び第2の係合アームを含み、前記第1の係合アームは、前記第1のコネクタハウジング半体に設けられたスロットと係合し、前記第2の係合アームは、前記第2のコネクタハウジング半体に設けられたポストに嵌まって係合する、請求項13に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記ハウジング半体の各々が段付きの形状を備える、請求項11に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記第1のハウジング半体は、前記第1の係合面を少なくとも部分的に囲むシュラウド部を含む、請求項1に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 前記第1のハウジング半体は、それと一体的に形成され、前記第1の係合面上に一つおき配置で設けられた複数の導電性接地部材を含む、請求項11に記載の差動信号コネクタ。
- 二つの電子構成要素の間で差動信号を伝達するためのコネクタであって、
二つの電子構成要素と接触するための第1及び第2の接触面が画定されたハウジング本体を備えた絶縁性ハウジングであって、ハウジング本体は、前記第1及び第2の接触面の間の経路に沿って前記ハウジングを貫通して延在する複数の通路を含み、前記コネクタハウジングの外側表面のすべてが導電性材料でめっきされて導電性となっており、更に前記第1の接触面に設けられた複数の接地接触部を備えるハウジングと、
前記通路内に配置された複数の端子組立体であって、各端子組立体が、少なくとも一対の差動信号端子を支持し、各端子対の端子は、テール部、接触部及び相互接続本体部を含み、各端子組立体は、端子本体部を部分的に包囲するとともに前記端子本体部の間に所定の間隔を維持する、誘電性材料から作られた支持フレームを含み、前記間隔は前記支持フレームの誘電性材料によって満たされ、前記差動信号端子対の各々の端子の間の結合を強めた端子組立体とを有し、
前記導電性めっきは、前記差動信号端子対の各々において、前記第1及び第2の接触面の間において前記ハウジング本体を貫通するそれらの経路に沿って基準接地を提供し、前記差動信号端子対の間の結合を阻止するコネクタ。 - ドッキングアプリケーションにおいて使用され、異なる二枚の回路基板上の複数の差動信号回路を接続するコネクタ組立体であって、
第1及び第2の相互係合可能なコネクタ構成要素と複数の端子組立体とを有し、一方のコネクタ構成要素が雄型結合端を含み、他方のコネクタ構成要素が、第1コネクタの雄型結合端を受入れる雌型結合端を含み、
第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素の各々が、相互に結合して前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素の各々を画定するそれぞれの上側及び下側の絶縁性ハウジングを含んでおり、各ハウジングが複数のキャビティを含み、前記上側ハウジング内のキャビティは一つの方向にハウジングを貫通して延在しており、前記下側ハウジング内のキャビティは別の方向にハウジングを貫通して延在しており、前記上側及び下側のハウジングを組立てて前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素を構成したとき、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素内に複数のL字状のキャビティが画定され、
前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素の前記上側及び下側のハウジングは、その外表面に形成された導電性被覆を備え、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素は、更にそれに関連する複数の接地端子を含み、該接地端子は前記導電性被覆に接触するとともに前記導電性被覆を前記回路基板上の接地回路に電気的に接続するように働き、これにより、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素上の前記導電性被覆が、前記コネクタ構成要素の内部キャビティの各々の回りに接地を提供し、
前記複数の端子組立体が前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素のL字状キャビティに収容され、端子組立体の各々は複数の導電端子を含み、端子は、コネクタの対向する端子と接触するための接触部と、端子を前記回路基板上の回路に接続するためのテール部と、前記接触部と前記テール部を相互接続する中間部を含んでおり、前記端子は、絶縁性本体部に少なくとも部分的に保持されており、前記端子は、別個の差動信号端子対に分割され、差動信号端子対は第1の方向に互いに離間され、各差動信号端子対を構成する二つの端子は第2の方向に互いに離間されており、
前記端子組立体は、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素のキャビティ内に収容され、前記端子組立体は、交互の雄型及び雌型接触部を備えており、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ組立体が相互に結合されると、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素の前記端子接触部が互いに係合し、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素が相互に係合されると、前記第1及び第2のコネクタ構成要素上の前記導電性被覆が、それらの前記接触部内の前記端子組立体を実質的に囲むコネクタ組立体。 - 二つの電子構成要素の間で差動信号を伝達するためのコネクタであって、
二つの電子構成要素と接触するための第1及び第2の接触面が画定されたハウジング本体を備えた絶縁性ハウジングであって、ハウジング本体は、第1及び第2の接触面の間の経路に沿って前記ハウジングを貫通して延在する複数の通路を含み、前記コネクタハウジングの外側表面のすべてが導電性材料でめっきされて導電性となっており、更に前記第1の接触面に設けられた複数の接地接触部を含み、前記ハウジングの両端部に二つの実装部が設けられ、該実装部の間にウェブ部が延在しており、該ウェブ部が、隣接するコネクタを部分的に覆うための前記ハウジングの少なくとも一つの入れ子領域を画定するハウジングと、
前記通路内に配置された複数の端子組立体であって、各端子組立体が、少なくとも一対の差動信号端子を支持し、各端子対の端子は、テール部、接触部及び相互接続本体部を含み、各端子組立体は、端子本体部を部分的に包囲するとともに前記端子本体部の間に所定の間隔を維持する、誘電材料から作られた支持フレームを含み、前記間隔は支持フレームの誘電材料によって満たされ、前記差動信号端子対の各々の端子の間の結合を強めた端子組立体とを有し、
前記導電性めっきは、前記差動信号端子対の各々において、前記第1及び第2の接触面の間において前記ハウジング本体を貫通するそれらの経路に沿って基準接地を提供し、前記差動信号端子対の間の結合を阻止するコネクタ。
