図25Aは、一対のコネクタ40、60が取付けられた一対の回路基板30、31を示す。この二個のコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するために互いに嵌合可能である。これらの二つのコネクタ40及び60の一方は、レセプタクル40と考えられ、すなわち、相補的な嵌合雄型プラグ部60を収容する雌型部である。この二つのコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するように互いに嵌合可能である。周知のように、二枚の回路基板はそれぞれ、電気部品を支持し、その例として、マイクロプロセッサとメモリ装置が挙げられ、アナログ回路も含むがこれらに限定されない。回路基板上の電気部品は、コネクタ部40及び60内の導体に電気的に結合されている。
本発明の一つの主な形態によれば、コネクタ40又は60の回路基板30又は31と接続する面に介在接地構造が設けられる。ドッキング型のコネクタのそのような介在接地構造は、図12A及び31Bで最も良く分かる。横断方向に延在する複数の壁51が、下側ハウジング48を、チャネル58a、58b(図12)等の複数のチャネルに分割し、図31Bで分かるように、このチャネル内に差動信号端子99が差込まれる。図12及び12Aで分かるように、一つおきの横断壁51に、接地端子184を収容するスロット183が設けられている。このような導電性の接地端子184を図27に更に詳しく示す。接地端子184は、下側ハウジング48の全体を回路基板30、31の接地回路に接続する働きをする。そのような接地端子184の構造を図27に示し、各端子184は、ハウジング保持部186と終端部187とを有する。そのような各端子のハウジング保持部186は、一対の平坦(たん)なヘッド188を有することが好ましく、該ヘッド188は、その片面に突出部188Aが形成されるように凹まされるか又は窪(くぼ)まされており、接地端子を収容するスロット183との散り嵌(ば)めを提供する。終端部187は、当技術分野で知られているように、テール部の変形可能な側壁によって囲まれた中央穴187Aを有する「針穴(eye of needle )」の種類の可撓性ピンとして示された一以上のテール部189を有する。

図53〜55は、回路基板31上に垂直な向きに構成された単一のレセプタクル部材601を使用し、また差動信号用途に使用されることが好ましい本発明のもう一つの実施形態600を示す。レセプタクル部材は、単一部品として形成された絶縁性ハウジングを含み、他の実施形態で説明したような内部キャビティ609内に配列された複数の端子組立体605を収容する中央の開口603を備えている。レセプタクル部材601は、対応するプラグ部材60のブラインド結合又は位置保証嵌合プラグ70を収容する一以上の係合孔602が両側に配置されている。図54に示したように、端子組立体605は、互いに隣接して配置されており、レセプタクルキャビティ609に収容されたベース部620を有する。コネクタ601は、また、該コネクタ601の下面のスロット(図示せず)に収容され、また、差動信号端子を個別のグループに分けるように配列された、図に示し上で説明した型の複数の独立接地端子627を含む。接地端子及び信号端子のテール部は両方とも、回路基板31に形成された対応する穴又はビア640に収容されている。
Claims (11)
- 二個の電子部品の間で差動信号を伝達するのに使用する端子組立体であって、
差動信号を伝達する導電性の端子の対と、
誘電体材料から作られた絶縁性本体部であって、複数の端子の対が絶縁性本体部内で位置合せされる配置となるよう端子の対を支持し、複数の個別の側面を備える絶縁性本体部とを有し、
前記端子の各々は、回路基板上のトレースへの接続のために前記絶縁性本体部の側面のうちの第1の側面に沿って露出されたテール部と、前記絶縁性本体部の側面のうちの第2の側面に沿って露出された接触部と、テール部と接触部を相互接続するとともに前記絶縁性本体部を貫通して信号経路を画定する本体部とを備え、前記絶縁性本体部は、
各対の端子を互いに離間させるとともに前記端子を互いに位置合せするスケルトン形フレーム構造を含み、該スケルトン形フレーム構造は、前記絶縁性本体部の第1及び第2の側面のうちの一方に配置されたスロットを含み、該スロットが前記絶縁性本体部内にあらかじめ選択された距離だけ延び、前記絶縁性本体部内において前記端子の対を部分的に互いに離間させ、前記端子の第1の対の端子の接触部は第1の長さを備え、前記端子の第2の対の端子の接触部は第2の長さを備え、第1及び第2の長さが異なり、
前記スケルトン形フレーム構造内には、前記端子の本体部の一部を露出させる複数の開口が画定されており、
該開口は、前記端子のテール部と接触部との間の経路において前記端子の本体部と位置合せされ、前記開口は、前記端子の対のインピーダンスに影響を与えるために、前記端子の本体部を空気に露出させる、端子組立体。 - 前記絶縁性本体部の第1及び第2の側面は互いに離間されるとともに互いに平行に延在しており、前記端子の本体部は前記絶縁性本体部内において前記端子のテール部と接触部との間で直線的に延在している、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記スケルトン形フレーム構造は、相互係合するサブフレームを含み、各サブフレームは前記端子の各対の一個の端子を支持し、該端子は前記サブフレームに部分的に埋込まれており、これにより、前記二個のサブフレームが相互係合されたとき、前記端子の各対の端子が前記絶縁性本体部内において互いに離間され、前記誘電体材料によって分離されている、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記サブフレームの一方が凹部を含むウェブ部を含み、前記サブフレームの他方が前記凹部内に収容される突起を含むウェブ部を含む、請求項3に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記絶縁性本体部の第1及び第2の側面は互いに直交し、前記端子は前記テール部と接触部との間で略L字状の経路に沿っている、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記絶縁性本体部は、前記端子の間に配置され、前記絶縁性本体部の第1及び第2の縁部から互いに近付く方向に延在するスロットを含み、該スロットは、絶縁性本体部のウェブ部によって互いに離間されている、請求項5に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記絶縁性本体部は、相互係合する第1及び第2の半体を含み、第1の半体が前記端子の対の各々の一方の端子を支持し、第2の半体が前記端子の対の各々の他方の端子を支持する、請求項5に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記絶縁性本体部の半体は、相互係合する手段を含み、該手段は前記第1の半体に設けられた凹部と、前記第2の半体に設けられた突起とを含み、前記凹部と突起は互いに位置合せされているとともに、前記スロットを互いに離間する領域において前記絶縁性本体部上に配置されている、請求項7に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記端子の接触部は前記絶縁性本体部から延出し、介在するスペースによって互いに離間されている、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記絶縁性本体部は、該絶縁性本体部に沿って延在する絶縁性の接触ブレード部を含み、前記端子の接触部は接触ブレード部に沿って延在している、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
- 前記端子のテール部が針穴型の可撓性ピンを含む、請求項1に記載の端子組立体。
