Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.その上に固体ポリマーコーティングを有する基材であって、該コーティン グは以下の工程により得られ: (1)該基材に結晶性ポリマーを含む固体粒子の水分散体を適用する工程(該 ポリマーは、(a)融点Tmを有し、かつ(b)疎水性モノマー由来の単位を含む) 、および (2)該分散体から水をエバポレートして該固体ポリマーコーティングを形成 する工程; 該コーティングは少なくとも一つの以下の特徴を有する、基材: (A)Tmより低い温度では、該コーティングは実質的に水不透過性であり(本 明細書中で後に定義する)、そしてTmより高い温度では、該コーティングは実質 的に水透過性である(本明細書中で後に定義する); (B)該ポリマーは少なくとも50%の含有量のゲルを有する架橋されたポリマ ーである; (C)該ポリマーは以下を含むモノマー成分に由来する: (i)第一の親水性モノマーを含む疎水性モノマー成分(該第一の疎水性モ ノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するものである) 、および (ii)親水性モノマーを含む親水性モノマー成分(該疎水性モノマー成分と 該親水性モノマー成分の重量比は10:1から50:1である); (D)該ポリマーは、疎水性モノマー成分を含むモノマー成分に由来し、該疎 水性モノマー成分は以下を含む:(i)第一の疎水性モノマー(該第一の疎水性 モノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するものである )、および(ii)第二の疎水性モノマー、該第二の疎水性モノマーは、 (a)そのホモポリマーが無定形であり、かつTcより低いガラス転移点Tgを 有するものであり、かつ (b)Tmが(Tc-5)℃以下であるような量で存在する; (E)該ポリマーは、疎水性モノマー成分を含むモノマー成分に由来し、該疎 水性モノマー成分は以下を含む:(i)第一の疎水性モノマー(該第一の疎水性 モノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するものである )、および(ii)第二の疎水性モノマー、該第二の疎水性モノマーは、 (a)そのホモポリマーが無定形であり、かつTcより高いガラス転移点Tgを 有するものであり、かつ (b)該コーティングが(Tc+10)℃でタック(tack)を有するような量で 存在する(該タックは、該結晶性ポリマーが該第二の疎水性モノマー由来の単位 を含まないことを除いて同じである組成物から同じ条件下で形成されるコーティ ングの(Tc+10)℃でのタックより小さい)); (F)該ポリマーは、以下を含むモノマー成分に由来する: (i)疎水性モノマーを含む疎水性モノマー成分(該疎水性モノマーは、そ のホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するものである); (ii)親水性モノマーを含む親水性モノマー成分;および (iii)少なくとも2つの重合可能な基を有する架橋モノマー; (G)該ポリマーは、カルボキシル基(少なくとも75%の該カルボキシル基が 中和されている)を含む1つ以上のモノマーを含むモノマー成分に由来する; (H)該ポリマーは、外部架橋剤(本明細書で後に定義する)により架橋され る; (I)該分散体の該粒子は、合体して、連続したコーティングを形成するが、 粒子の特徴を保持する; (J)該コーティングは該ポリマーの重量に基づき1%未満の未反応モノマー を含み;および (K)少なくともいくらかの該粒子は核を含み、該核は、該結晶性ポリマー、 および実質的に無定形のポリマーを含む該核の周囲のコーティングを含む。 2.前記結晶性ポリマーが(Tm−10)℃より高い融解の開始温度Tcを有する側 鎖結晶性(SCC)ポリマーである請求項1に記載の基材。 3.種子または他の生物体を処理し、それらの休眠を延長させる方法であって 、 以下の工程を含む方法: (a)該生物体へ非植物毒性コーティング組成物を適用する工程であって、該 組成物は以下を含む工程: (i)水、および (ii)水中に懸濁された、0℃から40℃の融点Tmを有する結晶性ポリマーを 含む粒子;および (b)該組成物が該生物体に適用された後に、水を該組成物からエバポレート させ、それによりコーティングを形成する工程、ここで、該コーティングは粒子 性の特性を有し、かつ (i)Tmより低い温度では実質的に水不透過性であり(本明細書中で後に定 義する)、かつ (ii)Tmより高い温度では実質的に水透過性である(本明細書中で後に定義 する)。 4. 前記結晶性ポリマーが架橋されたポリマーであって、該架橋されたポリ マーは、 (a)少なくとも50%の含有量のゲルを有し; (b)1%未満の未反応モノマーを含み;かつ (c)以下を含むモノマー成分から誘導される請求項3に記載の方法: (i)第一の疎水性モノマーを含む疎水性モノマー成分、ここで、該第一 の疎水性モノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するも のである; (ii)親水性モノマーを含む親水性モノマー成分;および (iii)少なくとも2つの重合可能な基を有する架橋モノマー。 5.前記結晶性ポリマーが、(Tm−10)℃より高い融解の開始温度Toを有する 側鎖結晶性(SCC)ポリマーである、請求項3または4に記載の方法。 6.組成物であって、以下を含む組成物: (a)水、 (b)水中に懸濁された、架橋結晶性ポリマーを含む粒子、ここで該架橋結晶 性ポリマーは、 (i)少なくとも50%の含有量のゲルを有し、 (ii)1%未満の未反応モノマーを含み、かつ (iii)以下を含むモノマー成分から誘導される: 1)第一の疎水性モノマーを含む疎水性モノマー成分、ここで該第一の 疎水性モノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であり、かつ融点Tcを有するもの である、および 2)親水性モノマーを含む親水性モノマー成分、および 3)少なくとも2つの重合可能な基を有する架橋モノマー;ならびに (c)界面活性剤。 7.前記疎水性モノマー成分が、前記第一の疎水性モノマーに加えて第二の疎 水性モノマーを含み、該第二の疎水性モノマーは、 (a)そのホモポリマーが無定形であり、かつTcより低いガラス転移点Tgを有 するものであり、かつ (b)Tmが(Tc-5)℃以下であるような量で存在する、請求項6に記載の組成物 。 8. 前記疎水性モノマー成分が、前記第一の疎水性モノマーに加えて第二の 疎水性モノマーを含み、該第二の疎水性モノマーは、 (a)そのホモポリマーが無定形でり、かつTcより高いガラス転移点Tgを有す るものであり、かつ (b)該組成物から形成されたコーティングが(Tc+10)℃でタックを有し、これ は、前記結晶性ポリマーが該第二の疎水性モノマー由来の単位を含まないことを 除いて同一である組成物から同様の条件下で形成されたコーティングの(Tc+10) ℃のタックより小さいような量で存在する、請求項6に記載の組成物。 9.平均粒子サイズが0.5ミクロン未満である、請求項7または8に記載の組 成物。 10.請求項6から9のいずれか1項に記載の組成物を作製する方法であって 、以下の工程を含む方法: (a)以下を含む水性反応媒体を提供する工程: (i)水、 (ii)前記モノマー成分、該モノマー成分は、該モノマー成分の重量に基づ き少なくとも2重量%の前記親水性モノマー成分を含む、 (iii)前記界面活性剤、および (iv)該水の重量に基づき少なくとも1重量%の、該水中での前記疎水性モ ノマー成分の溶解性を増加する共溶媒; (b)水性反応媒体中で該モノマー成分を重合する工程、該工程は該モノマー 成分の少なくとも99重量%が重合し、前記結晶性ポリマーを形成し、該結晶性ポ リマーは平均粒子サイズが0.5ミクロン未満である粒子の形体であり、該モノマ ー成分は重合の終了時点での量で存在し、反応混合物の固体ポリマー含有量は少 なくとも30%であるようにし、;かつ (i)該界面活性剤は該モノマー成分が初めに該水性反応媒体中に直径10ミ クロンより大きい液滴の形体で存在する量で存在し、かつ/または (ii)該界面活性剤および該共溶媒は、該親水性モノマー成分が実質的にラ ンダムに結晶性コポリマー中で重合する量で存在する。 11.水性懸濁物を調製する方法であって、以下の工程を含む方法: (a)以下を含む水性反応媒体を提供する工程: (i)水、 (ii)第一の疎水性モノマーを含む疎水性モノマー成分を含む第一のモノマ ー成分、該第一の疎水性モノマーは、そのホモポリマーが結晶性であるものであ る、および (iii)界面活性剤; (b)該第一のモノマー成分を重合し、該反応媒体中に懸濁された粒子の形態 で結晶性ポリマーを形成する工程;ならびに (c)第二のモノマー成分を重合し、該粒子上にシェルを形成する工程、 該第一および第二モノマー成分の量は、工程(c)の該生成物が少なくとも30 %の固体含有量を有するものであり、かつ 該界面活性剤の量は、工程(c)の該生成物が平均粒子サイズが0.5ミクロン未 満であり、かつ残留モノマーの含有量が該第一および第二モノマー成分の重量に 基づき1%未満である粒子を含むものである。 12.可撓性の繊維状物質をセット(set)することへの使用に適切な組成物 であって、以下を含む組成物: (a)水 (b)結晶性ポリマーを含む、該水中に懸濁された粒子;および (c)有効量の、該繊維状物質に所望の効果を有する添加剤。 13.前記結晶性ポリマーが40から60℃のTmを有し、前記繊維状物質がヒトの 毛髪であり、かつ前記添加剤がヘアケア添加剤である、請求項12に記載の組成物 。 14.前記繊維状物質が布であり、かつ前記添加剤が布処理化合物である、請 求項12に記載の組成物。 15.可撓性の繊維状物質を繰り返しセット可能にするための方法であって、 以下の工程を含む方法: (1)該繊維状物質に請求項12から14のいずれか1項に記載の組成物を適用す る工程;および (2)該組成物が該繊維状物質に接触する間、該組成物から前記水をエバポレ ートし、それにより、該繊維状物質上にコーティングを形成する工程。
