Abstract
939,557. Crank-shafts. KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT - DEUTZ A.G. July 6, 1961 [July 13, 1960], No. 24535/61. Class 80 (2). In a highly supercharged single or V-bank Diesel engine, the ratios of the diameter of the crank-shaft main bearing journals 4 to the crank radius r and the diameter of the journals 4 to the diameter of the crank-pin 5 may vary between 1.7 to 2.6 and 1.4 to 2 respectively and short crank webs 6 are arranged between narrow main journals 4 and the crank-pins 5 which carry a single connecting rod 9 or twin rods (Fig. 2 not shown). Balance masses 1, fixed by screws 8 to the side faces of the main journals 4, also take end thrust. The sliding speed of the main journals 4 in the crankcase plain bearings 1 is not greater than 1.3-2.0 times the mean piston speed, and the cylinders are spaced at a distance of 1.3-1.5 times the piston diameter.
