Abstract
1,008,898. Connecting-rods. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 27, 1963 [May 30, 1962], No. 20845/62. Heading F2T. The big-end of a forked connecting rod 11 for a V-type I.C. engine has a semi-cylindrical half bearing housing 14 extending between the fork arms 12, 13 and a single part 31 which is secured to the fork arms, as by bolts 23, 24 and acts as a second half bearing housing to form with the first half 14 a cylindrical bore and a cylindrical bearing surface 42, 43 for a second connecting rod (not shown), the bores in the housing 14 and the part 31 being concentrically aligned by V-shape projections 35 on the former engaging corresponding recesses 34 in the latter. Flanges 15, 16 on the housing 14 engage recesses 17, 18 in the arms 12, 13.
