Class' 12(1) A main bearing block of a crankshaft for an internal - combustion engine comprises upper and lower halves 3 and 4. the half 3 being secured to a light metal crank case 2 by bolts 6 which take the horizontal forces, and the half 4 being held by bolts 7 which pass through the block at each side of the bearing and take the vertical components of the load. The half 3 may also be located in the case by pins.
