Abstract

909,435. Balancing. BERLYN, M. J. Jan. 4, 1961 [Aug. 18, 1960], No. 405/61. Class 122 (3). In an internal-combustion engine balancing is effected by a pair of pendulums 13 and connecting rods 3 connecting the pendulums to the crank-shaft, a crank-pin on the crank-shaft driving the pendulums. The axis of the crankpin for driving the pendulums is interinediate the axis of the crank-shaft journals and the axis of the main crank-pin. Counterweights 6 are associated with the crank-shaft. The invention is applicable to a parallel twin four-stroke engine and also to single cylinder a multicylinder engine. As shown in Fig. 1, bob weights 7 are integral with the connecting rods 3. In Fig. 6 these bob weights are carried by the pendulums 13.
