Abstract

1430873 Balancing engines YAMAHA HATSUDOKI K K 16 May 197.3 [18 May 1972] 23270/73 Heading F1M A reciprocating piston I.C. engine is balanced by the usual balance weight 9 on the crank arm 7 opposite the crank pin 8, and by two further weights 13, 14 on axes 11, 12 parallel to the crankshaft axis and rotated at the same speed as the crank-shaft but in opposite directions to each other, the weight 13 being larger than weight 14 and its axis 11 being nearer to the central plane the engine including the crank-shaft axis, than the axis 12. As shown, sprockets 15, 16 and 17 are respectively fast with the crank-shaft, and weights 13, 14 and have a drive chain 18 to drive the weight 14 in the same direction as the crank-shaft, and the weight 13 in the opposite direction. Each second and third weight may be replaced by two or more balance weights.
