625,092. Four-stroke H-type engine. MONLEONE, C. Aug. 7, 1945, No. 20225. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1944. [Class 7 (ii)] A four cylinder four-stroke H-type internal combustion engine has a single crankshaft 14 located laterally of the cylinders 3 ... 6 having its axis in the transverse plane of symmetry II-II. The twin pistons 1 and 2 are connected through links 7 and 8 and lever 10 to an oscillating shaft 9 which drives the crankshaft through a link 12 and connecting rod 13. The crankshaft carries a balance weight 15 and is connected through a vertical shaft 19, which may serve as a camshaft, and bevel gearing, Fig. 2, to a . symmetrically arranged shaft 17, carrying an opposed balance weight 16, the two weights constituting a. balancing couple which balances the forces due to the reciprocating twin pistons; Uniform firing intervals are obtained, the firing orders being 3, 4, 5, 6 or alternatively 6, 5, 4, 3.
