Abstract
381,018. Four-stroke engines. LIENHARD, G., 6, Rue Leon Vaudoyer, Paris. Dec. 10, 1931, No. 34314. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1930. [Class 7 (ii).] In an engine provided with six cylinders 1d, 2d, 3d, 1g, 2g, 3g arranged in two groups of three set at an angle of 90‹ to each other, the pistons of corresponding cylinders are connected to the same cranks 4a, the shaft being provided with three cranks at 120‹. An arrangement of counterweights is provided on the crank webs. The cylinder heads are closed by blocks 11d, 11g, and the distribution controlled by cam-operated poppet valves 12d, 12g. The ignition takes place in the order 1d, 1g, 2d, 2g, 3d, 3g ; the angular distance between the ignition in cylinders 1g and 2d, 2g and 3d, 3g and 1d is 150‹. The primary inertia forces for each group of two cylinders engaging one crank are balanced by centrifugal force.
