600,087. Balancing crank-shafts. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON. July 12, 1945, No. 17848. Convention date, April 7, 1944. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] A crank-shaft 4, for an internal-combustion engine, has a substantially circular crank web or webs 8, filling the major portion of the crank-case 5 and balance weights 14, 15 positioned outside the crank-case on components 17 rotating with the crank-shaft 4. The crank web may be reduced in thickness 11, 12, in the vicinity of the crank-pin 9 to partially balance the reciprocating parts. A two-cylinder engine is also shown in which two circular webs support each crank-pin and the balance weights are mounted on the fan pulley and the fly-wheel at the front and rear, respectively, of the engine.
