Abstract

PURPOSE:To properly balance an engine by locating each crank pin of cylinders in position with proper relations, thereby erasing its inertia force and couple. CONSTITUTION:A crank pin 51 of a connecting rod 41 of a piston 31 in the primary cylinder 11 and a crank pin 52 of a connecting rod 42 of a piston 32 in the secondary cylinder 12 are connected by a crankshaft 9 between a front bearing 6 and a center bearing 8. A crank pin 53 of the third cylinder 13 and a crank pin 54 of the fourth cylinder 14 are located between the center bearing 8 and a rear bearing 7. The crank pin 51 of the primary cylinder 11 and the crank pin 54 of the fourth cylinder 14 are in phase with each other. The crank pin 52 of the secondary cylinder 12 and the crank pin 53 of the third cylinder 13 are phased in position symmetrically, that is 180 deg. out of phase with crank pins 51, 54 of the primary and fourth cylinders 11, 14.
