Abstract
921,373. Compressors. H. LIST. Feb. 15, 1960 [April 25, 1959], No. 5255/60. Class 8(1). An I.C. engine 10, Fig. 4, is mounted above the crankcase 20 of a compressor having horizontal cylinders 3 in which pistons 3a Fig. 6, are driven from a crankshaft 4 which in turn is driven from a parallel crankshaft 12 of the engine 10, through a single reduction gear 13, 14. The gear ratio is 1À3 to 1À5 and the construction enables short crankshafts to the used and also a smaller fly wheel. The compressor cylinders may be arranged in a single line as shown or in two opposed lines (see Fig. 8 not shown). A gear pump 22 driven by the engine crankshaft 12 circulates oil between the engine and compressor.
