603,560. Cooling pistons. WERKSPOOR N. V. Oct. 25, 1945, No. 28140. Convention date, Aug. 26, 1943. [Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a two-stroke internalcombustion engine in which scavenging pump pistons 10 are driven from the engine pistons by beams 15, lubricant or other cooling fluid is supplied to the pistons through tubular pivots 17 of the beams. These pivots are fitted between the cylinder supporting columns which have aligned passages, the cooling liquid being supplied at one end by a pump. It flows through passages in the connecting rods 15, cross-head 6 and pistonrods 5, and returns by a second passage in each piston-rod. Branch pipes may lead it to the crank-shaft bearings.
