Abstract
830,764. Crank-shafts. LIST, H. Feb. 26, 1958 [March 1, 1957], No. 6174/58. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] An engine and compressor unit wherein the engine cylinders 2 are at an angle of not more than 90 degrees to the compressor cylinders and their pistons are connected by rods to a common crank-shaft 6 has the following features: (a) the compressor connecting rods adjoining an engine connecting rod each engage directly adjacent crank-pins 9, 8 respectively of the same throw of the crank-shaft; (b) the radius 12 of the compressor cranks is smaller than the radius 11 of the engine cranks, the ratio preferably being 3: 4 and (c) the diameter of the compressor crank-pin 9 is larger than the diameter of the engine crank-pin 8. There are preferably two engine cylinders for each compressor cylinder, the other engine piston being connected to a separate throw of the crank-shaft.
