Abstract
1,133,618. I.C. engine driving gear. H.J.M. CLARK. Sept.26, 1966 [June 24, 1965], No.26795/65. Heading F1B. An I.C. engine comprises at least one cylinder 5, Fig. 1 and piston and at least one connecting rod 7 connected at one end to a piston and at the other end to a crank-pin 8 on a crank-shaft 9, the or each cylinder being offset to the crank-shaft axis so that the centre line of the respective connecting rod, when parallel or coincident with the cylinder axis during the power stroke, is substantially tangential to the circle described by the crank-pin axis. In another embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) the centre line of a vertical cylinder is tangential to the circle described by the crankpin.
