Abstract

1,020,150. Driving gear; valve gear. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Jan. 9, 1965, No. 1083/65. Heading F1B. A camshaft 28 of an opposed cylinder engine is situated between the adjacent cylinder heads 9, 10, the pistons being connected to the crankshaft 35 through linkage 29, 31, 34. In the four cylinder engine of Fig. 1 each pair of pistons is connected by rods 29, 30 and a rocker 31 having an arm 33 connected by rod 34 to the crankshaft 35 which is at right angles to the crankshaft 28 and drives it through bevel gears 39, 40. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the crankshaft 35 is horizontal and the plane of the cylinders and the camshaft 28 is inclined thereto.
