Abstract
851,616. Engine construction; crank-chambers. RUSTON & HORNSBY Ltd. Jan. 15, 1959 [Jan. 31, 1958], No. 3236/58. Class 7(2). A major crank-case portion 11A carrying a cylinder 14 has an inclined lower face 12 with crank-shaft and cam-shaft recesses 15, 16 and is connectible by screws 18 either with a minor crank-case portion lie and a sump 19 to form a single cylinder engine unit or with a like major crank-case portion and cylinder to form an engine unit having cylinders in 45 degrees Vee or horizontally opposed relation. A plurality of like engine units sharing the same crank-shaft may be held together by nutted rods 17.
