Abstract
945,404. Crankshafts. GOTAVERKEN. A. B. June 22, 1961 [June 30, 1960], No. 22701/61. Heading F2U. [Also in Division F1] A crank-shaft for a twelve-cylinder, twostroke I.C. engine with the cylinders in line and having an intermediate member containing the transmission to a cam-shaft or the like in the middle of the line, is characterized in that two adjacent cranks within each engine half are displaced at least 60 degrees in relation to each other and that the crank-shaft is so arranged that the engine fires alternately in each engine half, and within the halves alternately within each group of three cylinders. The angle between the crank-arms pertaining to the cylinders to each side of the intermediate member may be less than that between the crank-arms of the adjacent cylinders. Two crank-shaft bearings are provided between cylinders 6 and 7 so that even if the impulses from these cylinders occur in rapid succession any detrimental effect is avoided.
