Abstract

731,730. Connecting-rod bearings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Jan. 15, 1954 [Jan. 23, 1953], No. 2001/53. Class 12 (1). In a big-end bearing arrangement of fork and blade type connecting-rods for V-type internalcombustion engines, the bolts 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> which fasten together each connecting-rod and big-end bearing cap are inclined towards the centre line of the connecting-rod so as to converge towards the piston. The blade type big-end bearing 5<SP>11</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> is journalled on the outside of the bearing bush 10 for the crank-pin 9 in the forktype connecting-rod big end 5<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP>. Clearance holes may be used for the bolts 7 and spherical seatings provided for the head and nut as shown in Fig. 3.
